Ok, we have never eaten at Ohana (dinner) and I have booked us reservations there for our trip in Sept. I am a vegetarian (no fish or shrimp either) and our children do not like many meats either. But, my DH has wanted to try this place for awhile now and I know he will love it. Has anyone had experience being there as a vegetarian? Does anyone know how accomodating they can be? Are there any places on the DDP that you would reccomend to a vegetarian? Im not too picky, I just dont eat meat. TIA!

I've seen a few reports of the chef preparing a vegetable (and tofu?) stir fry dish separately for the vegetarians. All the reports I've seen have been positive. I believe the sides they serve you (salad, veggies, noodles) are vegetarian and so is the dessert, but I'm not 100% sure.

Try searching for a user named v_gan ... there's someone else who does vegetarian dining reviews too but I forget her name.

My sister is vegetarian and at breakfast the chef at 'Ohana made her a fantastic meal--sorry no experience with their dinner for vegetarians.

A few of the TS places she likes to eat with good vegetarian options are:
Brown Derby
Crystal Palace
Whispering Canyon (dinner)
Wolfgang Puck
Ralagan Road

I know she wants to try Rose & Crown as well as LTT (lunch)

Hope this helps

Hi there! I am a vegetarian and have always loved going to Ohana. I've been able to eat the bread, salad, veggies, noodles, and dessert. Since it is all you can eat, you will not leave feeling hungry. That being said, if you tell them you are a vegetarian when you arrive they will bring out a dish that is white rice with stir fried tofu and vegetables. Here's a photo from March:

HOWEVER, on my most recent trip, I went down Memorial Weekend with a first-timer who was sent to Disney as a graduation present from her mom. Since I am Disney-crazy, she brought me along to help her get the most of her time there. I booked us at Ohana because I love the atmosphere and I know that seeing Wishes from the restaurant would be really cool for someone who has never even been there. I am usually the only vegetarian in the group when I travel, but this time it was just two of us and we were both vegetarian.

My friend eats shrimp and fish but I do not. As soon as we told our server to please bring out the meatless option, she brought out Chef TJ who asked us some questions about what we ate. He then told us what was "safe" for us to eat (bread, salad, veggies, noodles, and dessert. Plus the shrimp for my friend). After that, we hardly saw our server because Chef TJ would come to our table and explain everything he brought out for us. In addition to the regular dishes that were veggie-friendly, we were given pita chips with three different kinds of hummus, some kind of broccoli and asparagus appetizer with a yummy sauce, and an amazing creation of rice, tofu, veggies, etc. that looked amazing and tasted just as good! He also brought out, in addition to the regular TO DIE FOR dessert, chocolate covered bananas!

He really went above and beyond for us and came over a few minutes after delivering the food to ask us how we liked everything. I had never had him do this before but perhaps it was because the entire dining party did not eat meat. He mentioned how many people see all you can eat meat on the menu and get scared away, but that there is a lot that they can do for people with different diets.

The Plaza in MK also has a yummy vegetarian sandwich and Raglan Road is also worth a stop. Hope this helps!

AlohaPolynesian, what day of the week was this? I thought I read that Chef TJ didn't work on the weekends and I'm trying to schedule a visit to Ohana in October when he'll be there. I'm a vegan and have heard rave reviews on his special treatment of vegans/vegetarians! :lovestruc

Chef TJ is THE BEST :banana::banana:!!!!! My DS has multiple food allergies, and chef TJ made him the MOST AMAZING meal of his little life! Here's a pic of his dessert:

If Chef TJ is there, rest assured that you will be taken care of. In my book, he's a total rock star!!! --Katie

Hi there! I'm not sure on the specific day but I can assure you that it was a weekend because I left on a Friday and returned home on Monday! I usually don't call ahead to let them know I'll need a vegetarian entree (since after my first trip to Disney as a vegetarian when they told me they can just accommodate me when I arrive) but maybe it would be worth it to see if Chef TJ will be there. As another poster said, he IS a rockstar!

OT: I have been looking for an address to send a letter about him but I still can't find one, so if anyone here has it let me know!

Thank you all for your responses. I feel better about sticking with Ohana now. Ill have to call closer to the date and see if Chef TJ will be there. Ill kep my fingers crossed that he will be. Only one thing, my kids do not like tofu and I dont really care for it either, but hey if we have AYCE bread, pasta, veggies Im sure we will be just fine. Plus, I know DH really wants to go there and we made this his B-day treat!

I have eaten Raglan Road and I really like their pasta, IDK what it was called, it was cheesy though, it was good. I also really like Planet Hollywoods fett. alfredo. It is good too! I cant wait to get to Disney, they have some pretty good food there! LOL.

tillymarigold- I just saw on your counter that we will be arriving at DW the same day!! yay I cant wait until Sept. We will be at POR. Just wanted to give you a shout!
