It's 3.5 to 4 hours for most, roughly 260 miles and 70 mph speed limit most of the way. It is an easy drive, but for the most part boring. Barstow is the unofficial half way point and a popular stopping point. Another one is Baker, about an hour outside Vegas. Just look for the "World's largest thermometer."
As a couple people said, you must take into account traffic patterns, or the drive will be much longer. You would be surprised about how many cars there can be in the middle of nowhere. Do not drive to from Vegas to So Cal on Sunday or after a major holiday weekend. Also time it so you do not hit So Cal during rush hour traffic.
the only other thing I would mention is if you make the drive during the winter, be aware of weather conditions. It can snow through the Cajon Pass.

I agree. Gas in barstow is a nightmare. We always stop in Victorville at the Costco. We live a couple hours on the far side of vegas from DLR so we usually stop in Primm for the bathrooms (clean at Terribles!) and Victorville for gas. Ok. And the bathrooms. I have a very patient and long suffering DH.
