Looks like DH and I are getting away for our first every munchkin free weekend later in July and we're heading to Vegas! :cool1: :thumbsup2

We've got airfare handled (as gifted by my god-mother, just because :cloud9: :teeth: ) so now we're booking hotel. We're flying in on a Saturday afternoon and flying home late Monday night.

So these are what we're trying to narrow it down from, prices include taxes and car rental:

Caesars $493
TI $444
Luxor $404
Monte Carlo $464

Last time we stayed at the MGM (won't do that again) and the Venetian (would love to but budget wise on a weekend it doesn't look like it's going to happen) so what would you recommend trying next?!?

TIA!

If you didnt care for MGM then you probably won't like Ceasars either, they are rather similar. The only one of those I've stayed at is Monte Carlo, it was nice and clean but too small for my taste (When I go it's just my rambunctious best friend and me and we pack A TON). Out of the four though I feel like it's your best bet. :)

Oh... do you really need to rent a car? if not you could get a nicer room somewhere. just a thought.

Of the four, I would choose Caesars. I know this is not on your list, but I also like Mandalay Bay. I thought the rooms there were pretty.

We do need to rent a car, we won't be staying on the strip the entire time, there are a few things we'd like to do outside of town. It's our chance to drive a non-minivan for a few days!

MGM I didn't like because of our room, my pillow and bed stunk of alcohol. Our deluxe view that we'd paid extra for ended up being of the parking garage but at that point the kids needed sleep and I wasn't about to fight, we'd just done a 7 hour drive in from LA so I was tired and crabby. Service sucked - I'm sure the hotel itself would have been fine if they hadn't pissed me off in the first 15 minutes of me being there.

I just got back from a conference in Vegas and stayed at Harrah's. Unless you really need it I would suggest a taxi instead of a rental car. I drove mine to the hotel and let it sit for 3 days because I didn't want to venture out into the traffic. It was a real waste of money (don't tell my boss).

Sorry OP, you posted your reasoning for a rental car while I was typing my post.

Enjoy your trip.

Hmmm... well Ceasars is smack in the middle of everything, good shopping, food and clubs right there in the hotel. If it was just a service thing and not a whole hotel thing with MGM (some people think it's too big etc) then I'd go with Ceasars.

The one I would cross off your list would be the MC. Kinda blah, certainlly not for more than the TI or Luxor.

Caesars is a bit of a rats nest - I don't like going in and trying to get around. However, If that price is for one of the newer rooms (in either the Palace or Augustus towers) I'd take it in a heartbeat. Those rooms are wonderful. But if that is the price for one of the older towers (Forum, Roman or Centurion) I wouldn't pick Ceasars.

I love both the TI and Luxor. Both have enough style to be fun, but don't break the bank. My choice between the two would be based on location. Take the Luxor if you want to be on the South end of the Strip, or TI if you want to be farther North.

We stayed at the Luxor last year in the pyramid with a strip view. We loved it!!! The room was huge and nicely decorated. The little toiletries were cute! They had a shower cap in a pyramid shaped little box!! The bathrooms had a small real carpet that you could lay down for getting out of the shower, not just a towel. We were surprised how much we liked it! I love the inclinators(instead of elevators). The buffet was great for breakfast and the cafe had an awsome club sandwich!

Of those Caesars has the best rooms, food, location, pool and ambiance. I would go with it. I have to tell you my last stay there 2 weeks ago I was let down by the casino. Since harrahs bought it out they took out most of the good dollar slot progressives and replaced them with video slots or higher jackpot progressives. We are big gamblers so casxino matters to us LOL.

\Try the seahorse bar for a drink. Don't forget to get to Parasol down bar at the Wynn either. The buffet at the wynn is very good as well, Bertollinis in the forum shops at Caesars is quite good and for midnight muchies or any time of day dining the VIctorian Room at Barbary Coast has excellant food at good prices as well.

If you decide to stay elsewhere besides CP post it and I can give reccomendations based on that but really I would snag Caesars.

You can't go wrong with any of those four. I love Vegas almost as much as I love WDW and those are among the four best. If you gamble a lot, Monte Carlo has the most customer friendly gaming. Betters odds on table games, lower limits, etc. Caesar's has the best location and my favorite casino of those listed, but it is massive. TI is cool and is fun for younger people, kind of far north, but it's a very fun place. Luxor reminds me of the Contemporary and is very underrated.

I'd draw out of a hat on this one!

Thanks everyone!! We booked everything this morning, we had to push back our trip to the first weekend in August due to DH's company picnic and if we miss it the kids will be furious!

So we're going Aug. 5-7 and we're booked at the Venetian!!! YAY!!! :cheer2:
