Ok DISers, I need some WDW advise on Las Vegas!

My DH and I are headed to Vegas next October to celebrate 18 years and I'm a planner. I've scoured over trip reports on Vegas boards, but honestly, they don't DO VEGAS like we DO WDW, ya know? :lmao:

I found a Vegas trip report here at DIS and it was GREAT! I learned so much more about Vegas and the sites than any of the TR I've read on vegas boards (b/c the only thing they talk about is gambling!) I know, I know, it's VEGAS, and we do plan on gambling a little but I want to see other things!

Anyone have any tips, TR's or ideas they can share?!?! :cool2:

We went to Vegas in the summer for our 10th anniversary and joined it onto a trip to Disneyland so I planend both in the same way at the same time. I think we need some more info really before we can help.

1) Where are you staying? I've been to Vegas a few times and stayed in a few hotels but for this trip weh choose the Bellagio with a lake view. The location is great and I love watching the dancing fountains.

2) What do you like to do? Sight seeing, shows, just touring the hotels, shopping? We loved just taking time to visit wach of the theamed hotels, take in the sights, do the gondola rides at the Venetian, watch the fountain show at Ceasars, watch the Sirens show at the TI, the lake show at the Wynn (you need to be in the Parasol Down bar to see that one).

Shows: What type? We like cirque shows so go see one of those each time.

Sight seeing: We go out to the Hoover Dam, do the helicopter tour to the Grand Canyon (I recommend Sun Dance for that, we have used them twice and reieved excellent service.) We also drove out to Red Rock Canton and did the scenic drive - very pretty.

3) Food: What do you like to eat? Do you want a few fancy restaurants? Buffets? There is so much food choice in Vegas, but our favourites were Nobhill at MGM Grand and Prime Steakhouse at the Bellagio.

I still have my planning info on my laptop so PM me if you think this will be useful.

Oops, I should have given more info from the get-go!

1) Where are you staying? We are staying at MGM Signature. It's behind MGM and all the rooms are Jr. suites, which will be great b/c I'll have a fridge (see food answers below)

2) What do you like to do? Sight seeing, shows, just touring the hotels, shopping? I love sightseeing and taking pics, I've already planned to walk the strip and just take it in. Gondola's are on my list but not sure if they will be too cheezy? I would love to shop, but I'm not a brand-name shopper and wouldn't even think of spending a fortune on a purse, so I found a Disney outlet about 4 miles down the strip we might go to! :lmao:
Shows: What type? I'm really unsure about the shows! I think we can probably only afford one. At first I thought we would like the Drag show there, but it has awful reviews. Then I thought about a Cirque show, but I'm not sure I would like it? Comedy show is high on my list but not sure if Penn & Teller or Carrot Top?

3) Food: What do you like to eat? Do you want a few fancy restaurants? Buffets? I'm a raw vegan, which basically means that I can't eat much anywhere. I will most likely splurge on this trip and eat some cooked vegan food (rice, cooked veggies) so I've been looking at Indian restaurants b/c they have a lot of vegetarian/vegan options. It's also why I chose the Signature b/c they have a fridge! I like nice meals and I know I can get catered to better at a fancy restaurant and they will most likely make me whatever I want, BUT, I don't care to spend $300 on a meal that consists of a fancy salad, ya know?

I'm sure we will spend a lot of time exploring and a lot of time in the suite (it's been 14 YEARS since our first was born and we have never taken a trip much less gotten more than a couple hours alone since the kids were born!)

Oh, oh, and I want to know about the club/lounge scene. Yes, I'm a raw vegan who drinks like a lush when given the chance. :rotfl2:

BUT, I'm 35 years old and feeling kind of...OLD. I want to go to a club/lounge where we don't stick out as the oldest people in the room, does that make any sense?

Margaritaville sounds good...one of my favorite drinks!! :woohoo:

and as for the buffets, can anyone suggest one that is good for a vegetarian/vegan? One with a great salad bar/soup/veggies area?? My husband told me I will probably only want to do a buffet once, after I see the LINES.
