I'm taking my DD to Disney for her 6th birthday and want to get her a cupcake for her birthday but she is allergic to eggs and dairy so I'm wondering where I can get a vegan cupcake.

Is it only at that shop in Downtown Disney? or do some of the restaurants or shops have them?

Thanks!:confused3

Disney has a very new system where you can order Babycakes vegan cupcakes/other treats and they can be delivered to your table-service restaurant. When you make your reservations, note it and they will be able to accommodate you. :thumbsup2

The only milk and egg free baked goods at WDW that I know of are:
  • everything at Babycakes in DTD (so yummy)
  • allergy cupcakes at Chef Mickey
  • allergy brownies at Crystal Palace
  • Divvies cookies (one of my kids got ice cream sandwiches made with these and Tofutti ice cream at the Plaza Restaurant)
  • Enjoy Life cookies (chefs can make these into sundaes using Tofutti ice cream)

I know the reviews of CM are very mixed when it comes to food but every allergy review I've read plus my own experience are all glowing for people with food allergies. That might be a wonderful birthday meal.

Here's my youngest eating one of the the CM cupcakes. I didn't think to take a picture until she was already part way through eating. This was 1.5 years ago but I believe they still have the cupcakes. They were quite tasty and they looked so NORMAL with icing and everything. They had both chocolate and vanilla cupcakes. This was quite the treat.

Here's pictures of our most recent Babycakes cake from a couple weeks ago.

Here's a sundae that a chef made (actually for me but my kids could have eaten it too). I like that he made it look like a Mickey head (or maybe my Disney obsessed mind is just creating hidden Mickeys were they don't really exist LOL).

ETA: The Babycakes cake was something I ordered to be delivered to a restaurant. At the time, the process for ordering items from Babycakes still wasn't finalized yet but the folks at our resort arranged for the cake to be delivered. They offered to pick it up for us for a variety of reasons. Babycakes still had no ability set up to be able to order their items for the restaurants. That may now be finalized so that you can order their items at restaurants but they would have to be ordered ahead of time just like any cake order or other special dessert like the chocolate slippers.

Milk and egg free items are not necessarily vegan...check to make sure the allergy safe items have no animal products (like honey, for example). If it's just that you are looking for stuff for egg and milk allergies you'll be fine but if you're vegan you may have to check.

Honest question here: what exactly does eating vegan mean? A co-worker jus told me he was vegan and I heard recently Bill Clinton went vegan. A quick explaination would be appreciated. Thanks!:)

Vegan means not eating any living creature or a product that comes from a living creature, such as butter, milk, eggs, honey, even gelatin. I'm sure someone can explain in more detail if you wish, but that's the basics. HTH

Thank you. I wasn't sure how it differed from vegetarian. So obviously no meat or cheese either. I assume there are substitutes like soy milk etc.... Interesting :goodvibes
