Hi all. My church has just finished a wonderful week of VBS. This is my first year of teaching and I think I did a great job. However, tonight I have to get up in front of everyone at the assembly and tell them about what we did in VBS. I am not accustomed to public speaking and yes, I am a little shy. So, do any of you have any suggestions for my short talk? Please help, it's tonight.
Thanks

Make it short and sweet. Tell what you did and how great the kids were. :)

You mean they don't have you make the children do something for them? I never had to give a talk, but had to have the children sing a song or put on a skit or something. Perhaps you could show some of the children's work and talk about it.

First of all, you deserve a BIG pat on the back!! I used to teach VBS at our church in Florida and it is a lot of work! Glad to see you had a wonderful week! Just tell the parents a little about what you studied and what the kids seemed to enjoy most. A few cute stories about things the kids said or did never hurts either. And end by telling them how precious these formative years are and that God is there to help them through it all! They are HIS kids, on loan to us for a few years, but He expects us to train them up in the way they should go. Tell them they are making a good start by bringing them to VBS!!! Lacee

My kids are 2-3 year olds so we are just singing 3 small songs for the parents as well as handing out certificates. But I am supposed to talk with to the parents in front of everyone as well. Thanks

Laceemouse, you have such a way with words. Thank you so much for the advice. I knew that if I asked the Disboards I would get honest, helpful advice.
Thanks

If possible, name each student that is present and say something cute. I don't know how many kids you have but that always makes the parents beam and it also puts the focus on the kids.

There are lots of things to say, like.....

Sue had a great smile.
Tim was a good helper.
Andy loved the story about David.
Mary always brought her Bible.

You can come up with a general statement about any child.

Also, I commend you for your efforts in the Kingdom. His blessings to you today and always!

Claudia1--thanks for the idea about using the kids names. It sure does make it more personal! Thank you. I added it and it helps.
