last easter 2004 you (dvc) were aloud to use the computer & interenet in the main lobby for free, this easter i was told $5 for every half hour, and the rude cm also told me, the computer & interenet was never free. i told him i was here last easter 2004 and spent alot of time on the computer & internet and it was free . the cm still told me i was wrong :scared1:

It must have changed sometime between Easter and July. I was there in July 03 and July 04. In 03 it was free and in 04 the charge was $5 per hour. CM was mistaken, maybe she/he is new.

no he (cm) was not new, matter of fact he said he has been there a long time and it was never free. maybe he was just promoted to front desk. after our exchange of words DH and i were in the upstairs bar and we noticed he was bringing up food for everyone in the bar like a waiter. oh, i did tell him i was a DCV member and maybe it was a perk , he still told me, it was never free, LOL

I believe you are right. I think it was free at one time-you just had to log in to your own account-aol, etc.

This really gets me. Any time we have wanted to use the computer there we have encountered rudeness from the CM's at the front desk. Then they childishly remind us that we only have 1/2 an hour and we can't go one second longer.

The price they charge is way too much. They have a cable modem from Comcast in Vero Beach. They don't pay more than around $70 for that thing a month-I'm sure they have some deal on it since they also have cable from Comcast.

I'd rather pay a few cents more in my dues for it.

I posted a question about using the internet while on Disney property, and was told there was a place at the Dolphin, I believe, that was $30/hour. I think the charge at VB is way more reasonable than that. When we were there in March, we had no problem with CM's when we used the internet. One even let us use an extra 5 minutes from someone who signed off early.

we just stayed at the dolphin one night and we were charge a flat fee of $10 a night for interenet, tea, coffee and bottled water, whether you used it or not. so besides you hotel room rate you also have to pay $10 for other charge ( what i just explained) $7 for self park or $14 for valet (only if you have a car).

we also inquired about the wireless at the yc and was told it was $10 per 24 hours only to be used at the pool or lobby.
if you wanted interenet service from your room that was a different charge then the wireless.

if i am going to pay for interenet service i would rather pay and use it in my room. ;)

It has been $5 per hour since at least Dec 2002. I just carry my laptop. I'm sorry you experienced rudeness. It's not necessary.

Always report rudeness. This is Disney after all, and one of the reasons we bought DVC was for Disney's hospitality and the kind way they handle people. When someone forgets what their job is about I remind them by talking to their manager!

Hi- When I stayed in Co-Co beach last summer at a place that we found through II, we did not have to pay a penny for the internet. We had the friendliest staff and they did not have a budget anywhere near what Disney has, yet managed to let people use the computer/internet for free.
When in Spain, they had a good set up, it was coin activated, at a very reasonable rate. No one monitored your time, you paid a reasonable rate for the time you needed.
Now I have a question for those of you that have been to vero beach. We are going in July and we were wondering about miniture golf. Is it expensive, and can you buy an unlimited pass for the week?
Also wondering about refillable mugs if they have them and are they worth it?
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, they have refillable mugs. In fact once you buy the mug it is good at all the food places, so you can use it to get free coffee in the morning and a soda at lunch in the sit down restaurant. They don't actually put the coffee or soda in the mug but give you a cup or glass. Very nice freebie that is only at Vero.
Mini golf is very inexpensive at Vero, and it should be, because the "course" is small and is really set up for kids and their families. Yes, they have a weekly rate. I know because my then 6 yo grandson played endless games with whomever happened along. I mean he played with kids, adults, familes, anyone at all. He just loved the course and we loved that he enjoyed it so much. It is a very nice diversion for children and parents who want to spend a little fun time together.

VB does have the refillable mugs, i am sure they are around $12.00. i guess it all depends how long you are staying and if you drink alot of pop. we only stay about 3-4 days at VB and with the mini or full kitchen , we just make a stop at the walmart and pick up snacks, pop, breakfast items. we always make sure we eat at least once at capt. hirams . as far as the mini golf, we have never done this, i know dvc use to pay $1, i am not sure what it is now. i do know the chairs for the beach are 6.00, umbrellas 8.00 and cabanas are 12.00 dvc does get a discount. i hope the beach entrance is done by july, we were staying in the last building next to the kids playground and the entrance was at the other end of the property.

Thanks everyone for the great responses. This gives me an idea of what I should expect. We can't wait for some fun in the sun and good family time.
