I am a relatively new DVC member. I have planned a trip to VB in the spring and am trying to get some additional information about rooms. I am travelling to VB with my wife and am trying to determine if it is worth spending the additional points on an Ocean View Inn room as opposed to Garden View Inn room. I love to sit and listen to the ocean, but sometimes what is labeled as an Ocean View room is barely that. In addition, some hotels have great public spaces where one could sit, relax and listen to the ocean. Any other tips regarding this resort would be appreciated. Thanks for all of your help.

IMHO - I definitely think that the Ocean View Inn Rooms are worth the points. I don't think there are any rooms classified as such that don't have a TRUE ocean view.

There may be some that have a view of both the pool and the ocean, but they are still very nice views.

As far as your public spaces... they do have a very nice "back porch" that sits on the east side of the building - complete with rocking chairs. Then, just above that area, is the "Green Cabin Lounge," which has a great outside eating area, directly overlooking the beach. ....Only problem is the noseeums, if you happen to catch them in season....

I would definitely go for it! We've stayed in those rooms many time - I think it's one of the best views of all the DVC resorts!

the ocean view rooms in the inn are ocean view. there was just one time when someone didn't get an ocean view and I think they got refunded the difference in points.

now the studios and villa won't guaranteed you can ocean view - although some do have them.

only the inns will guaranteed it.

the garden view is fine too - you may get a view of the lake.

this hotel doesn't have a real big lobby - it does have a back porch - where you could sit - but you can't see the ocean from there. heard and smell it yes - but see it no.

This is much more than a label at Vero Beach. The only catch is there are Inn rooms that face the ocean (east) and Inn rooms that face North or South and have off to the side views. All these rooms are categorized as Ocean View Inn Rooms (OVIR). Soooo..... get there early to check in so you get the best chance of choosing an ocean FACING room.

Have a great trip :beach:

Another big thumbs up for the OVIR!!!!!:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

We only had enough points for a GV on our very first visit. I definitely would take one again, if it were all I can do, but an OV is my preference.
Bobbi:)

Views are INCEDIBLE!!! An absolute must is to see a sunrise!!!!!:thumbsup2

The OVIR's are definately worth the points.

There are OVIR's on the sides of the resort. We have stayed on both sides. Last year, we were in an OVIR on the North side of the resort. Our balcony actually faced the campfire area (the new one North of the resort.) The East wall of the room was big windows that overlooked the ocean. So, we had no ocean view from our balcony. We didn't mind at all.

We've also stayed in an OVIR on the South side of the resort where the balcony faced the pool and the ocean to the side. Again, we loved this room because we enjoyed watching the pool.

The rooms on the corners of the resort are a bit bigger and that's a nice trade off.

We've stayed in a ton of OVIR's directly looking over the ocean. It's wonderful to wake up in the morning and just sit there and look at the ocean.

Yes, there is a nice porch where you can sit and watch the ocean but everyone seems to use that for the smoking area so I just wanted to warn you if you don't smoke.

Our favorite room is any OVIR on the 4th floor.
