VB Inn rooms vs. 2 BR

I was unable to get a 2-BR for spring break but was able to get 2, (guaranteed) adjoining ocean view Inn rooms. They are less points but I will miss the washer and dryer and the sitting room. I'm on the waitlist for a 2-BR, with an automatic change if one comes available.

From the posts I have been reading, the Inn rooms have better views and are preferred. I need opinions from VB veterans. Which would you prefer? The ocean view rooms or a spacious 2-BR? DH likes to have a couch for evening TV but we would also love a good view.

Pros and cons, please!

I would prefer the Inn Ocean View rooms-the view is great. You don't get the washer/dryer/full kitchen but you do get a microwave, toaster, wet bar, etc.

I think that the Inn Ocean View rooms 2316 and 2416 have 2 queen beds plus a pull out couch because they are on the corner of the building. That way you would at least still have a couch.

It all depends on what you want but we love the Inn rooms and you can always go up to the 4th floor and do laundry if you need to.

It's kind of odd-most of the Inn rooms do have room for a little sitting area but there is just a big open space there. On our first visit I thought they had an upholstered chair and an ottoman.

Good luck with your decision.

Inn rooms aren't adjoining, are they? There isn't a connecting door between any of the Inn rooms is there? Can anyone confirm they had a connecting door between two Inn rooms?

I don't think any of Inn the rooms are connecting rooms-they would just be adjoining rooms which I took to mean they were next to eachother.

Yikes! I thought they would be connecting!

I need to call DVC on Monday......

I just checked the room configuration on the DVC site and it shows a connecting door.

I'm still going to call on Monday.

I have been in an Inn room with a connecting door. I don't think they all connect but there are some.

The Inn is lovely but it is more "hotel" than "home"....but the view is spectacular. It's a tough call. If you really want to spread out I think I'd stay on the wait list (some 2 bedrooms have great views also) and then see what happens. You have the Inn so you'll be happy either way. :)

I've fallen foul of the difference between connecting and adjoining before so do specify you want rooms that have a door that connects the two rooms.

I would say I'd prefer a two bed unit in your situation, but two Inn rooms isn't exactly a hardship. If your kids are old enough you could let them walk around the hotel, but not old enough you'd like them walking in the grounds, then the Inn rooms do allow you and DH to have a couple of hours in the bar ( often has live music) when the kids are in the room ( possibly even asleep LOL ). If they did wake up and want you you may feel happier if it's a short walk inside the hotel as opposed to walking through the gardens.

We've stayed in Ocean view Inn Rooms twice. Once there was no door to the next room and once there was - so they apparently have some, but not all. Good luck getting what you want.

PamOKW and gracelrm, thank you for the information. I didn't even realize having connecting Inn Rooms was even a possibility. That add some extra potential for accomodations.

I've always wondered what the room directly above Shutters is for, it has a huge flag hanging in it. Somone also said on this forum there was a onebedroom in the Inn, but only one. They said they stayed there before.

Last trip was the first time we saw the television room back past the old sales area and restrooms. There are small meeting rooms back there and a television room the teens were meeting in for a Disney movie. Looked like a great room, nice to see it is available. Vero has some hidden treasures we are still just learning about. Two trips ago the business office and internet setup was a great help.

Where is the room above Shutter's?

We always stay in 2216 and I thought that was as close to Shutter's as you could get. There is a room next to that which says CM's only and then the stairwell door. I thought with the ceiling at Shutter's as high as it is there wouldn't be enough room for anything over it.

Just curious.

I wondered, too, if there was a room above Shutters. I checked from the outside and saw the flag and then went in Shutters and noticed the flag!! I think Shutters is a 2 story restaurant! I ddon't know for sure since I never asked anyone.

We stayed in an Inn room a few times and once had a corner unit. There was a door in our unit which went to the next unit. The corner unit had 2 beds and a pull out couch (which was a great area for DH to do business, yes, he brings his business with him!!!!:( :( :( )

I have tried to book VB and asked for connecting rooms at the Inn when there was not a 2 BR available. I was told I could not be gurareenteed connecting so we cancelled. My girls aren't old enough to be in a separate room. I am glad yours are guraranteed. Hopefully I can be guaranteed next time.

My family just returned home from VB in November 2002. There were 6 of us in our group, 5 adults, 1 child. We had a 2 bedroom villa for 5 nights. It was sooooooooooo nice, my 12 year old daughter was in shock when she walked into the villa, she said, "Can't we move in here permantly?" Coming from my daughter, that's a huge compliment:D

We will be going to VB again someday, and we will either get a 1 or 2 bedroom villa, depending on the size of our group.

My mother and I went into town and bought enough food for the week. We split the cost between the 5 adults and it only costs us about $30.00 per person, that's also counting snacks. It was nice having mom along, she is a "GREAT" cook!!!

I like the comfort, more than the view. With a 2 bedroom villa, you will have plenty of comfort.:D

Best of luck whichever way you decide to go.

I called DVC to request connecting rooms and the DVC CM called VB directly. He came back to me and assured me that it was noted on my ressie and "it won't be a problem". He said that I was early in my call (over 2 months out) and the room assignments are not put in until the week before. Although they could not quarentee my request, he kept saying that VB said is would not be a problem.

While I am not completely comfortable w/o a quarantee, it sounds very, very promising. Anyway, my 2-BR waitlist might come through and it won't be an issue. We might possibly give up an ocean view but it would be bigger.

I'll let you know when we return. Thanks for the info!

Have a MAGICal trip "HOME"
