I want to have a reallllllly relaxing vacation in January 2002 and have chosen Vero for the first time. I will be travelling with my Husband, 10 year old son and Mother-in-law.. yes Mother-in-law. Does anyone have a suggestion for the best room location? My first choice would be either a 1 or 2 BR but a studio might be OK too if it were big enough for the 4 of us. An ocean view would be beautiful if I can get it. How is the weather the first week of January?? Help me!

If you want the ocean view, I would suggest two Inn rooms. I believe they can be ajoining, but not sure.

A two bedroom will give you pleanty of space to relax and enjoy your vacation. My suggestion would be not to skimp on the room, you'll be spending much more time there than at WDW. Get a place you can kick back in, everyone can retire to bed when comfortable doing so, you can watch family videos in evening if you wish, and can have nice meals at a table set for 4 but can seat 6 if you bring in the two chairs from the balcony.

January can be a month where nice weather is not guaranteed. So have a nice room as a backup plan if needed. Especially if your going for Really relaxing, a studio probably won't be enough.

Two bathrooms with the two bedroom is also nice.

Enjoy your vacation.

We were at VB during the first week in January this year. It was comfortable enough to sit by the pool every day, but the ocean and beach were a little cool.

If you definitely want an ocean view, you should go with ocean view inn rooms (these have two queen size beds). The views of the ocean from the villas where the studios, one, and two bedrooms are located are rather limited or non-existent due to a large sand dune between the resort buildings and the beach. Only the beach cottages and the ocean view inn rooms are assured of a view over the dune from the second and higher floors. The studios in the villas have a queen bed and a double size sleeper sofa. One and two bedroom units are also in the villas. The two bedroom is a one bedroom/studio combination, so there is a king bed in the master bedroom, a sleep sofa in the living room, and a queen bed and sleep sofa in the second bedroom.

How important is the full kitchen? Two ocean view inn rooms would accommodate the four of you and minimize point requirements compared to a two bedroom, but a one bedroom would be fewer points than either of these.

Hi The Wuzzels, we're planning on visiting VB in January, too!

We're new owners there through an add-on, and we definitely want an ocean view for our first VB experience. We'll be booking an inn room which is the best way to try to get that view.

Being originally from Buffalo (and knowing Lockport very well) we love the beach in Jan. and Feb. because it's not too hot, and often not too cold. The ocean probably will be too cold to swim in, (unless you're a member of that Polar Bear Club that takes a dip in Lake Erie in the winter every year) but at least there's no snow. ;)

hello Wuzzles we are leaving for vb the 13th of this month. Looking forward to the relaxation. We are staying in a studio. We went to vb in early feb. of 2000, the weather was a little cool on the beach but at the pool it was fine. We were in building #14 top floor, we had a pretty nice view of the ocean. we are hoping for building #14 again, but where ever will be fine. We are going to take a look at the inn rooms this time for future consideration. We are from Batavia, ny. Small world!!

We were in building 14 in December and loved it. Room 1430 to be exact. It is a 1 BDR on the 3rd floor and had a great view of the ocean. You do have to be on the 3rd floor to get an ocean view. The weather the first week of December was in the 70's early in the week and low 80's by weeks end. It was very relaxing and quiet. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I guess I have to weigh out having the view vs. having a kitchen. Although if I want a really relaxing vacation, maybe I don't want a kitchen. But then again if I understand correctly, room 1440 is a one bedroom with a view? That sounds like it could work. Thanks again!!.. By the way, I'm not a member of the Polar Bear Club, but I have sponsored it for several years now. Crazy but not that crazy!

Wuzzels,
You gotta love those Polar Bear Club members!
Maybe we'll see you at VB!
