We usually do our Disney retreat in January, but as the kids get older missing school is getting to be more of a problem (I know, common theme). I don't know if we would enjoy the parks as much during February school break week. Is VB at all possible to book then at 7 months? Also, for those at the parks and VB this Feb break, how were the crowds? Thanks!

We were at Vero for President's Day weekend in 2002 (checked in Thursday and out on Monday, President's Day). We paid cash for our 2 bedroom so can't help you with the 7 month booking info.

I'm quite sure the resort was at capacity while we were there, but we never felt crowded. Plenty of room around the pool and in the restaurants. (Have to admit that we only ate one meal at the restaurant, though. Mostly cooked in our room, although we did eat out once in the city of VB). The beach seemed almost empty to us - it was like having our own private beach with maybe a few very friendly neighbors stopping by every now and then.

IMHO, VB is a great place for a vacation - lots of things for kids to do. It didn't feel crowded, even though there were people around.

Hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did!

Hi CarolMN: Thanks for the info. How far out did you make the cash reservations, that could be a good way to go too?

To be honest, I really don't remember exactly. It was well before the 7 month window, though. We were hoping for a discount of some kind (either Disney Club or Birnbaum), but neither happened. We did manage to arrive on the last day of value season though, so we were able to pay value season rates rather than peak.

If you don't mind the depost, you could make a cash reservation now and then cancel it when you get your points ressie at the 7 month window. (I'm being very positive because I think you get the points ressie.:D). That way, you know you will have a place to stay.

Good luck!
