Various Refillable Mug Questions

We are arriving early on Check-in day. I know that our room won't be ready until after 3 PM, however, we wanted to check out some other resorts before going to ours to check-in. We are staying at POR and have the regular Dining Plan. We are planning on eating lunch at AoA as we check out the hotel.

First question, can we get our refillable mugs at a resort that is not the resort we're staying at?

Second question, can we get our refillable mug before we check in? I would assume not, so can we check in online and then get the mug at AoA?

Third question, which may not be necessary to ask, Can we use these mugs at various resorts or only at our resort? We are hopping to different resorts all day the first day.

Thank you!

1. Yes.

2. No. You will at least need to do online check-in.

3. You can use them at other resorts, but not in any park.

What are you doing with your carryons? Why not go to POR and stash your bags and hit the front desk before heading to AOA?

One can do the checkin process at any point after 6am or so.

The last few times we were at WDW we were able to check in early. The only time we weren't able was when we stayed at POR. We left our bags at the front desk.

Go to POR first in case your room is ready, give any requests, get the mugs, then check out other resorts. That's what I would do!

And yes use them at all resorts! We did this when we checked out the monorail loop. It was great. Bus to MK, take the monorail all the way around, bus back to POR.

Your room could be ready before 3. If you can (you need to have magic bands before arrival for this), I'd recommend doing the online check in option where they text you when your room is ready and you can skip the front desk entirely. I've used it the past few trips and my room has always been ready late morning.

Do you mean you couldn't do any of the process? Or just that you didn't get a room at that point?

Because as long as the computers have switched over to the new hotel Day (happens around 6am) you can do all of the process but get your room number.

We always do online check in and in the past we put early check in as our priority. We have been able to check in at 9 or 10 am but when we stayed at POR the rooms weren't ready. We went over to Epcot and about an hour later they texted that the room was ready and gave us the room number.

While on the topic of refillable mugs, are they only free to guests using the dining plan or all resort guests. How much do they cost? Right now we have a package for Beach Club but without dining.

One mug per person is included with all of the dining plans. Resort guests (or even day guests, I suppose) can buy them for $17.99 - technically good for length-of-stay, but most people report the RFID chip in them tends to be good fro 14-21 days.

OK, so you simply mean the rooms weren't ready. :)

The OP, I believe, doesn't realize that you can do the *process* of checking in...get there, give a CC if you want to set up room charging, etc, until after 3pm. He's instead going straight to another resort to eat, and wants to get his mug there. I'm saying...go to POR, stash your carryons (and I assume they have a car, so instead of leaving bags in the car where they are in a bit of danger from breakins, hand them over too) with Bell Services, do the checkin process, get your mug, and then choose where you want to go eat.

Getting a room can never be expected until after official checkin time. But that doesn't mean you can't do the checkin process.

We were just planning on leaving our bags in the car. So you're saying it's best to drop them off first? Do they put them in our room for us, or do we have to go pick them up there before heading to our room later?

Unless you're pressed for time, which it sounds like you are not, you might find it smoothest to go to your resort and physically check in, see if your room is ready, make sure everything is good with your account. It hasn't happened to me personally, but there have been reports of having trouble using the dining plan before actually checking in at your hotel.

No, they won't put them in your room for you. If you have a car with a trunk, they shoudl be fine in there. I do agree with the others that you should check in at your resort first, your room may be ready.

I have an additional question regarding re-fillable mugs......

We're not on the Dining Plan but we always buy refillable mugs :P We're doing split stays on our next two trips in June and Nov, will we be able to purchase the mugs at our first resort and use them in the second?

Doug :goofy:

Yes, assuming you're not staying more than 14 days. We went to POR our last trip, stayed one night there, and bought mugs. Then we stayed at POP the rest of the time. We absolutely got to use our mugs the entire weeklong stay.

If I may jump on -- is there a way I can buy resort refillable mugs for friends I know are staying there, so that the mugs will be in their room when they arrive?

Nope. You can't buy anything, pretty much, to be in the room when they arrive. Even Disney Floral don't tend to drop off until the people are in the room.
