This is the way that I understand the ways that the various Disney entities' CMs trade pins...
1) According to WDW's rules, the Variety Heart IS tradeable there, since it has the "copyright Disney" imprint on the back.
2) According to
Disneyland's rules, the Variety Heart is NOT tradeable there (with a CM), since it is not cloisonne or cloisonne-type or hard enamel, etc....by the same token, the all-metal LE WDW-Port Orleans pin that came out earlier this year, is NOT tradeable at DL...but IS tradeable at WDW.
3) The Disney Stores follow the Disneyland rules pretty much, so the Variety Heart is NOT tradeable with a DS-CM.
Btw, the Variety Heart comes out every year (& is a major fundraiser for the Variety Clubs which are a charitable club of entertainers). There are at least three different years' pins that I am aware of, one with a child's face, one with a tree and the latest with the Mickey hand & wand. (There were also two slightly more expensive versions of the Mickey Hand/Wand that were sold at this year's Official Disneyana Convention, one of which had a crystal where the star is.)
Hope that helps....
