Okay, so I'm varathaning a desk today that I had previously stained (1 week ago). The varathane can was 1/2 full and I had already used it on the exact same furniture over the exact same stain. I was using a new brush.

The varathane went on milky like it's supposed to, but it dried to a white film! I've NEVER had this happen!! I'm wondering why, but even more importantly, I'm wondering how to fix it. Do I really have to sand all the way back down to the point of re-stainiing? I tried sanding with a light weight sandpaper, but it's not taking the film off.

Any suggestioins?
TIA!

Is it damp where you are???? Verthane will dry milky if it is done in a damp enviornment!

No, today it was sunny & dry, except for the ice melting. I did have the window in the room open a crack, but I've done that before, too. Any ideas?

:confused3 Was the brush damp???? Thats all I have sorry!

Wait a few days & see what happens. I hate to say what you will need to do if it dont clear up!:sad1:
