Vancouver transportation questions

My wife and I are headed down to Van at the end of Feb. We will be staying at the Pan Pacific which is by Canada place I think.
We are staying a week and don't want to rent a car.
First question is airport transportation. I have heard of the Canada line, is that the way I should go? Also there is different zones, will I be in more than one going from yvr to the hotel?
We will also be going to the Canucks game on a Saturday night! What will the commute be like? Can we just walk?
I also really want to go skiing at either seymore or grouse mountain. Which one would you recommend?

Any restaraunts you want to mention in that downtown area? There is so many it is hard to choose.

Yes, take the Canada Line. Airport to downtown is two zones but on weekends or after 6:30 p.m. weekdays, it's a flat one zone fee. There's an additional $5 fee charged when leaving the airport, no matter which day you're there, but that fee won't apply when you return from downtown.

You could walk to the Canucks, depending on your health, but be prepared for rain. I haven't been in that area late at night so perhaps check with the hotel about safety. If you prefer, you could go to Waterfront Station and take either the Expo Line or the Millenium Line to Stadium/Chinatown Station. It would be one zone and a very short ride.

I don't ski but I think Grouse is the bigger and better of the two. I'm sure someone else will correct me if I'm wrong. :)

I never eat downtown so can't help there.

Sechelt answered most of your questions, but I did want to add that Cypress is my family's preferred mountain to ski. Otherwise Grouse is fine. Sorry, I can't really recommend restaurants. I do get down there for lunch occasionally and have been to the restaurant across from the Pan Pacific at the Fairmont and we enjoy it.

Thank you for the help!
I would love to go to cypress, but it kind of sounds like Jessica(wife) isn't as excited about skiing as me...lol I am going to keep working on her:)

Can't wait to go see the hockey game! Canucks vs Kings on Saturday night, should be a great atmosphere.
I hear there is a Disney Store in Metrotown Mall so we will have to go there and get our niece and nephew a bunch of stuff there....I think my nephew would love a vinylmation or two, he is almost 2!

Haha! Perhaps tell your wife about the great gondola ride up the side of Grouse Mountain and the breathtaking view on clear days. There are places to eat and a Starbucks too. There's also a theatre showing wildlife films, sleigh rides, ice skating, zip-lining, and 'snow-limos', where they take you on a sled down the ski runs. There's lots she can do while you ski.

Metrotown/Metropolis is on the same skytrain lines as those for getting to the hockey game but you're looking at two zones, unless it's the less expensive time frames I mentioned. Haven't been to Disney Store in a while so don't know what they carry.

Hope you're a Canucks fan. :)
