Vancouver port WARNING

The skytrain entrance at Howe street will not get you to the Canada line therefore will not get you to the airport.

Couldn't you take it to Waterfront and then transfer to the Canada line? (Although this doesn't make a lot of sense, as Waterfront is closer to the cruise ship terminal to begin with)

Do you know if it would be possible to request a later time? We are catching the QuickShuttle to Seattle at 10:45 and don't need to be off early. I would rather not be randomly assigned one of the earliest times and then just have to wait around Canada Place for a few hours.

Thanks for the information everyone! Our flight is at 1pm, so I think we'll be fine on time, but it's great to know! :goodvibes

I just got off the Wonder in Vancouver this morning as well.

Yes, if you are walking off and carrying all your luggage, as soon as customs is cleared, you can leave the ship. No need to wait for any tags to be called.

I was in the last group to be called (Orange Goofy tags). We camped out in the Promenade Lounge after breakfast and were off the ship by around 10:00.

It was a great cruise and I'm silently jealous of all those who were carrying on for the next 7 days to Alaska.

Thanks for the info. I wish we could stay on the ship as long as possible, but we'll have a flight to catch.

Sorry you couldn't continue on with the next cruise. :sad1:

The skytrain entrance at Howe street will not get you to the Canada line therefore will not get you to the airport.

That is slightly over dramatic, that Skytrain station will provide you with an under cover walking route to the Canada line. You entrance takes you down, then you walk the platform of the Expo line, back up the escalator the other side, and then you are in the Waterfront terminal.

From there you turn right, and there is the downwards entrance to the Canada line.

So sure, it's about a 10 minute walk, but when you say it won't get you to the Canada line, that is incorrect info.

They disembark by deck # (This is how the luggage tags are assigned). I know this because we had plans with another family, and wanted to diembark at the same time, but since we were on a different deck from them, we couldn't be in the same group. So they were on deck 2, their tags were one of the first groups called, we were on deck 6, and we were one of the last groups called. They just waited for our group to be called and we all diembarked at the same time. We waited in Studio Sea and watched disney movies for over 2 hours!!!

Yah I thought you could get to Canada line - a bit more roundabout, but was saying if it was raining...

Thanks for the info. I think we will just keep our luggage with us so we can leave the ship when we are ready. We will be checking into the Pan Pacific after our cruise.

When we did Alaska on HAL, we did it this way. I thought it was a lot nicer than having to join the looooooong line getting off when everyone rushed the doors trying to be the first off.

We had breakfast, went back to our room and waited for our departure time. Went directly off the ship onto our bus to the airport. I understand that HAL has changed it now that you can't go back and wait in your room, but you still wait for your departure time. There are plenty of places to sit.

:cutie:

We're doing HAL next May, but on a CruiseTour. Will be interesting to see how they group the people together who have to continue on the land portion.

Things may change from cruise to cruise, Other view points might be different but please DON"T HESITATE to give suggestions or lets us know what happen on your cruise. I LOVE THE INFO!!! The more opinions and suggestions the better. I am very thankful for them. Keep them coming.:thumbsup2

The only thing I haven't planned is transportation from the ship to the airport. Would you suggest doing the Skytrain or do you think it is worth spending the extra money for Disney transportation? Or did you see other options? Thanks for any info.

It's really up to the personality of the people in your group. I enjoyed a bit of adventure dragging my luggage a block through Vancouver to the Skytrain station entrance, and as we approached the airport a lot more people with luggage got on the train.

I don't know about going from the airport to the port, but onboard Disney was offering a ride to the airport for $25. Walking through the port terminal I saw people with signs advertising a ride for $14, and the Skytrain was $3.75 CAD per adult - $2.50 for the 9 year old.

You will save a lot of money pulling suitcases from the train station to the port, and you can stop in front of the port building to take a picture of the bow of the Wonder before boarding.
