Vancouver lodging for cruise

Happy New Year everyone. Another questions on lodging in Vancouver. Has anyone stayed at Westin Grand or Westin Bayshore? Is it convenient to Canada Place and downtown? Is transportation easy? Would love any insights from anyone who has stayed here.

Getting around Vancouver is super easy. The day passes work on buses, trains, trolleys, and ferries. The two choices you listed are in very different areas. it all depends on what you want to see while you are in Vancouver waiting for your cruise. One is close to Stanley Park and the Olympic flame, the other the downtown and gas district. Either hotel I would recommend a cab to the terminal.

All of downtown Vancouver is close to each other.

The Grand and Bayshore, at least 10 years ago, were very nice. Both are convenient to Canada Place.

We personally like Sutton Place of all the hotels we've stayed at in Vancouver. (we haven't stayed at Pan Pacific, which is actually ON the pier of Canada Place, or any of the Fairmonts, because we don't feel the need to spend that much money for a hotel...and that's the reason we haven't booked either of the Westins in a long time, either)

Taxis are clean and not expensive.

Our 1st cruise is in August. We have the Westin Bayshore booked due to its' proximity to Stanley Park (and the fact that we're just not city people and staying in the middle of downtown doesn't appeal to us). We're doing the 'pay your age' promo--1st night is rack rate, next 1-2 nights you pay the last 2 digits of your birth year.

Thanks. My sister is looking at Westin because she has points. We are doing our first Alaska cruise the last week in July.
