Van Halen back with Davey Lee Roth

Yes apparently it is true. Anyone have any details on tour dates etc.? Anyone betting there will be a blow up and the band will dis-band once again before the tour ends? I hope not, but seems a definite possibility.

I dunno, maybe Roth has changed? Maybe his ego is not the size of Mt. Everest anymore since his stint as a paramedic, maybe that experience changed him. Anyone hear anything?

Seems strange since out of all the rock band fueds that one seemed to be one that was going to last. I'm glad it apparently didn't. Me and my friends do have to laugh at why they broke up before they got back together the last time in, what was it 1996? 1998? Something like that. When they were on the MTV video awards and it looked like they were about to announce a return together as Roth and VH once again. Eddie reports that when he threw a little cold water on Roth's announcement due to his pending hip surgery, that Roth blew up later backstage stating, "Hey man, tonight wasn't supposed to be about your F-ing hip, tonight was ABOUT ME!" I'm sorry but that is so crazy its just funny.

Apparently that attitude didn't go over very well with the Halen brothers. But oh well looks like they have put it all behind them.

Yes, apparently Roth is back. Which, if you ask me, is AWESOME! But Michael Anthony won't be playing bass on the tour since he's become good friends with Sammy Hagar and feels loyal to him (or maybe the brothers don't want him because of his friendship with Sammy). At any rate, they reportedly will all be together on the same stage when VH is inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame next month. That could be pretty interesting.

Can't wait to see 'em live. (Now all that's left is for The Police to announce a summer reunion tour, and I could die a happy fella.)

Does anyone know how they patched things up? I figured with that "hip" remark by DAve that they would never get back together, at that point the VH brothers pretty much hated Roth, I wondered what turned it all around?

I wasn't able to find any locations/dates for the tour, but I did find a site that said they were planning on 40 cities.

I wonder what David's going to be like. I saw him play a small bit in the Sopranos a couple years ago, and he was unrecognizable. DH & I wondered how much of it was makeup for the show vs. how much was really him.

Either way, I'm stoked -- er, I mean, thrilled!

He just played here at Hard Rock Live in November(?) Another photographer got the assignment, I'll see if he'd be willing to share any of the photo's if he didn't have to sign a release. He thought DLR was great--but then again he and I have VERY different opinions on a lot of things, particularly where it comes to some of the more retro acts--and he's a HUGE DLR fan to begin with.

I just realized that an old buddy might be teching for EVH--he teched for him during the last part of the Van Hagar and throughout the Cherone days. I'll send him an e-mail and see if he's got anything he'd like to share.
