We are planning a trip for October 2015 to do a little recon before picking a home resort and buying a contract. We haven't stayed at AKL before but thought it was beautiful when we visited Jiko, so that's where I'm hoping to rent points. Several questions for all you experts, since we are just getting our feet wet:
1. What is the difference between value and standard one-bedrooms at AKL?
2. Is value available at both Jambo and Kidani? Our kids will be newly-3 and 15 months when we go, so I think we need to stay at Jambo to be near the quick service restaurant.
3. We are obviously past the 11-month booking window and will not be renting points until mid-January. If we go thru David's to rent, will we be able to get a value 1-bed at Jambo? If not, a standard 1-bed at Jambo?

At this point, you may be able to get a one bedroom value for October but some nights are already booked. The standard should be no problem. There are no value villas at Kidani only Jambo. The difference is the size of the rooms. The values are a bit smaller and only sleep 4(with a pullout couch) whereas the standard 1 bedrooms sleep 5(with a pullout chair and couch). We frequently book the value studios and 1 bedrooms. They are a great use of points and you have a chance of getting a nice savannah view and we have been lucky enough to get one most of the time.

The other thing to note is at Kidani the 1 bedrooms have a 2nd bathroom which is a really nice feature. With that said, we still prefer Jambo because we like being in the center of things and frequently use the quick service.

I convinced Mr. Lincolnshire to book now instead of in January, and we got a value 1-bedroom at Jambo House for Oct. 1-8. Yay! Thanks for your advice.
