Ok, I am already thinking about my next WDW vacation and I havent even left yet for my upcoming one!! :rotfl2:

Next trip I am thinking about doing a split stay with a Value Resort and a Deluxe. I stayed in Deluxe resorts (Poly and CR) with my parents as a child and stayed in a Mod. resort as an adult. I've never stayed in a Value.

I've seen pics but have never visited. Those huge statues at Pop, ASMu, and ASMo look so cool!! The *** doesn't appeal to me at all (not a sports lover). I've also read great reviews about some of the food courts there. and of course, the price is great.

Questions I'm hoping you could give your input on:

-Would you say the quality of the rooms are comparable to a moderate? In the photos I've seen, they look spacious, comfy, and fine.
-Are these resorts big?
-How are the CM?
-Do you feel too far away from WDW?

*Biggest question: we are two adults (a couple) in our early/mid 30's. We are pretty laid back, but one thing I cannot tolerate is excessive noise at night when I am trying to sleep-screaming kids, drunk people, loud talking. I'm talking midnight and later here.

-Are the walls of the rooms thin? Do you find the Values to be a terribly loud resorts?
-Is there a particular Value resort that you find quieter than another?

I don't mind loudness, chaos, screaming or hyper kids during the day-not a problem at all. I just cannot fall asleep when I hear outside voices or people yelling. Sound machines do not work for me.

Any input would be great-thanks!

Just browsing through more pics and I am just in love with ASMo Toy Story section!!

Experience with this resort? Is ASMo nice? and does it tend to be relatively quiet at night?

This August will be my 4th time at Pop Century. It is now my favoriate resort. I have stayed at CBR and POFQ (both mods) and really like Pop better. The rooms are a bit smaller and only have one sink, but that is not an issue with us. The rooms were always clean and comfy for us. Some people say the walls are very thin and you hear the people next door, but I never experienced that.

The resort is very big, but the way it is set up, you really don't have a far walk. We always stay in the 60s section which is considered preferred. I like being the nearest to Classic Hall which is where the food court, lobby, game room and gift shops are and the main pool is right outside.

The only way I can describe why I like Pop Century better is because it feels more like one of the theme parks. I love all the icons and the colorful atmosphere. The first time I went I was blown away by the atmosphere. I really can't say that about the mods I have stayed at. Don't get me wrong I love all Disney resorts, but nothing gave me that first time WOW like Pop Century did. I guess that is why it is my favoriate. It really is a feast for the eyes. Having said that, some people do find it too loud and tacky, but not us, we love the fun theme and the music they play throughout the day is great.

Now for the bad news. When I go I stay in the 60s section which is considered preferred. It is very noisy at night. People are in the pool until the wee hours. I don't think they ever really close it. There are no lifegurads, but people are in way past midnight. You can hear them laughing and yelling all night. I am not a light sleeper, neither is anyone in our family, so it is not an issue. However, if you stay in one of the other sections away from the main pool, you probably will not hear any thing.

The CMs are very nice and professional, and we use the Disney buses which are excellent. Staying at Pop you are probably the futherst from the Magic Kingdom, but it dosen't take long to get anywhere. I think maybe 15 to 20 minutes tops would be the longest trip. MGM and Blizzard Beach are a mere 5 minute ride. The other parks are probably 10 or 15 minutes at the most.

I love the lobby and food court at Pop and the game room and outdoor pool bar are a blast. We will be going back this August. I was going to book CSR, but my wife and daughter rather go back to Pop. Go figure. I get to save some money.

Hope this helps.

If you decide to go with Value, I think the Music and Pop resorts are most adult-friendly. Again, I would echo PP who mentions pool noise, and request to not be near the main pool (even though you may need to walk a bit further to bus).

-Are these resorts big?
Are you asking about how far the walk is to the food court/bus stop? If so, you can find the threads to the value resorts individual info and request a certain building.
-How are the CM?
I have only stayed at Pop. There they are wonderful. :hippie:
-Do you feel too far away from WDW?
Do you mean the Magic Kingdom? Because the values are in WDW. And you can't really feel like you aren't at a Disney resort when there are towering characters everywhere. :goodvibes
-Are the walls of the rooms thin?
I think yes. I would request a non-connecting room. Most of the noise I hear comes between connecting rooms(unless I'm connected with an extra room with my family- they are quiet!) At POP I would request a first or 4th floor lakeview. Those have been my quietest there.

As far as the rooms being spacious, for one or two people they are fine. For more than 2, spacious is not a word that I would use.

I would choose POP or Asmu....

Either way my only request would be....
Top floor(nobody running above you)
Quiet(not near a pool).....

Do not pay for preferred.....might be near a pool(noisy)

As far as the rooms.....they are more than adequate for 2 people....
I do feel a big difference in the "feel" of the moderate rooms....
Value feels "bare-bones" to me.....
while the mod rooms feel more "deluxy"...if that makes sense.
both have the same double bed though.

Pop, high as possible, Lake view, in the 50's. (in that order) might do 70's for you.

Music, Liked the Jazz section - pretty close to the food court.

Pop has loud toilets - just remember to close the door to the bathroom before you go to sleep.

all the hotels are switching to these things - because they save on water.

really most people are so tired after doing WDW - that they can sleep at any WDW resorts.

Pop has something that you might appreciate both outdoor bar (all the values do) and indoor lounge (only Pop has this).

be sure to see the CM's :dance3:

besides it is fun to remember all the stuff!!!

All Star Music is my favorite Disney owned hotel.

I can well afford to stay at any of Disney's resorts but these are the main reasons I stay at All Star Music:

1. I can book a preferred room location.
The way All Star Music is laid out it "seems" smaller than most of the other Disney resorts. If I stay in a preferred building i only see the Calypso and Jazz builings on the way to to and from the main pool and the bus stop and food court. Since I stay in preferred room I know I am going to be close to the food court, bus stop, & main pool.

2. I enjoy the theming at the All Stars. All Star Music is also is the quietest of the values. Generally less people stay there and there are more seniors and couples and less young children because children enjoy the themes of the other values more.

3. The bus service at the All Star Music is very good. Since I use an ECV good bus transportation is essential.

4. The entry at the values and Mods are much more Handicap friendly.
I am able to get in and out of my All Star room unassisted. This way my husband can go and play a round of golf and know I can leave my room to relax by the pool if I choose.
--------------------------------------------------

All Star Music is my favorite resort. It tends to be the quietest of all the values.

All Star Music just underwent a refurbishment of all of the rooms and was completed in June 2007.

Here is a website with photos of the newly refurbished rooms at All Star Music.

Look at the Jazz Inn section with new posted:

DH and I enjoy the landscaping and peacefulness of All Star Music.
We enjoy relaxing by the pool (there are plenty of chairs and lounges), and the beautiful lighting at the resort by night.

I have never had the unfortunate experience of running into the any of the large
groups of teens who sometimes stay at the values on school trips.
As long as you can avoid those large groups I do not think Noise will be an issue.

*HINT if you close your bathroom door at night you might not even hear the turbo toilets.
I close my bathroom door and I don't hear them.

I love The All Star Resorts.

I am 56 years old and travel several times a yearfor pleasure. I often stay at 3and 4 star and sometimes a 5 star hotels and motels.
So the deluxe and mod resorts are just another hotel/motel to me.
Staying at an All Star is like being in the heart of the Magic and that is where I want to be.

All Star Music is my favorite. It is quieter because more couples stay there. I love staying at the Calypso building. It is closer to the pool, food court and bus stop.

Here is a site with a map of All Star Sports and All Star Music.
http://www.wdwinfo.com/resortmaps/allstarmap.htm
Scroll down. All Star Music is at the bottom of the page.
The Calypso buildings at All Star Music are #1 and #10 are nearest to the food court and bus stop.

The Calypso pool at ASMu has Donald Duck.

The buses are wonderful.

Bus rides are quite short from the ALL Stars according to PassPorter.com

All Star Buses-CBR buses---POPbuses--PO buses--- Contemporary
MK 20 min---- 20 min-----25 min------10 min---20 min(mono)
Epcot 10 min-- 15 min-----20 min------10 min---15 min
MGM 10 min----12 min-----15 min------15 min---20min
AK 10 min------20min-------15 min----15 min---20 min
DTD 15 min----20 min------20 min-----15 min---35 min

It only takes 10 minutes to get to Epcot, MGM and AK from All Stars.
MK is 20 min away. That's the same amount of time it takes on the monorail from the Contemporary.

A WORD ABOUT BUS SHARING

To me Bus Sharing at the All Stars is really a non issue.

In the mornings during Park opening hours each All Star usually has a dedicated bus.
During mid day it is usually just our stop and maybe one more on the way to the parks. On the way back sometimes it is all 3 but often Sports and Movies share and Music has it's own bus back. Each of the All Stars usually has it's own dedicated bus back from the MK.
That is a big plus. It seems like the Music bus stop usually has the shortest of the three All Star bus lines.

I guess some people who stay at POP see all 3 All Star names on the return sign of our bus stop when they head to the POP bus stop and think All Stars also has 3 stops on the way to the park.
(Even when we stop at another AS resort to load up it has not taken more than 5 minutes and we are on our way!)

--------------------------------------------------

I have visited WDW more than a dozen times with the 1st time in Oct. 1971. It was brand new. I've stayed at FW, Disney Inn, a few the of Hotels on hotel Blvd., CBR and the towers at the Contemporary. I got to see the MK from my balcony at the Contemporary and I'm happy I got to experience it once. I just prefer the All Star Resorts.
The theming is pure Disney.

My last 7 visits have been at The All Stars and during the fall of 2005 when we took dd,dsil, and our grandson age 3(at the time) for 8 nights we stayed at the All Stars Music. I thought about AKL and even though we can well afford AKL I just wanted Alex to experience the Disney Magic :wizard: at the All Stars on his first visit.
Where else can one find Donald Duck or Mickey Mouse at the pool?

Have fun at Disney wherever you choose to stay!:wizard:
