Value Resorts and Bed Skirts

OK, this is an odd question, I know, but can anyone here tell me if the value resort beds are supposed to have bed skirts, or some sort of cover for their box springs? Or if when you take the bedspread off, you are just supposed to have a matress with a tucked in blanket and sheet, but a bare box spring? Pictures of what you've actually experienced at a value resort (especially Pop Century) would be helpful.

Thanks much,

KC:santa:

If you go to the resort pictures thread sticky and hunt for a lonnnnggg time, (there are very few pics on the room interiors) there are a couple of photos that clearly show that there is no bedskirt. The box spring is clearly visible. If memory serves, this is not unusual amongst the resorts though.

I haven't stayed at Pop Century since the refurb, but there were no bedskirts. The bed frame is a solid box (does not move), topped by the box spring and the mattress.

If memory serves, the beds have bedspreads, rather than comforters/duvets and bedskirts.

OK, thanks - I thought it was so odd when I saw it this past week that I called housekeeping. The first person I talked to apologized profusely and promised to get it taken care of right away. The second person said 'this is value resort, we don't have bed skirts' (and yes, that's pretty much exactly what she said, in a very 'duh' kind of way). Looking for the right answer, I went to the front desk, where they apologized that someone forgot to put the bedskirts on in my room, and said that the housekeeping manager would be in contact with me. And then the housekeeping manager called and told me that they didn't have any covers on the box springs in value resorts. I thanked her and let her know that I was getting conflicting stories from various housekeeping and desk personnel, and she agreed that they should all know the real answer, and that she'd be sure to let everyone know at the front desk.

Two days later, I checked out, and ran into the front desk manager I spoke to a few days earlier. Who asked me if they had put the bed skirt on.

Right hand has no flipping idea what the left hand is doing, sometimes. I appreciate the DISBoards, because I know I get the actual answer.

Now I've heard everything.

Meaning about the lack of bedskirts, or that I should make such a fuss about it ;)?

I totally get them not having an extra layer of 'stuff' on the beds - frankly, from a cleanliness perspective, it's a good thing! But Disney has such buying power - I think they should contract with a mattress company and have them build the box springs in Disney fabric, or even just in a solid color - that way, no need for a dust ruffle or bed skirt, but it also wouldn't look so, well, cheap.

I don't believe that any of my 5 stays at Pop have been in rooms that had any kind of dust ruffle, or bedskirt. Just a bedspread. I don't find that it looks 'cheap'...I'm not sure why you would think that. The mattress has a mattress pad on it, underneath the sheet. I mean, aren't you in the bed, when the outside is showing???
I guess it just never occurred to me to even think about it. In fact, I think it's cleaner to go without. I always hate to move the dust ruffle aside at BWV...I'm kinda afraid of what may be lurking back there, under the bed!!!!!

I agree! I don't like those decorative ruffle things (though when I've ever had one, it's a very straight, white one that isn't ruffly) and they are just another dust-catcher.

But I don't like the plain ugly white (if it were an elegant white pattern, that's different) boxspring showing, either, not in my home or at a hotel! I agree, boxsprings should be made with prints! What a great idea!

They don't have bedskirts! They have themed, long bedspread/comforter things that go almost to the floor. I remember specifically because we took them off every day since they were heavy and none of us liked the weight on our legs in our sleep. And you could always see the box and frame underneath :)

:thumbsup2

How much of the box spring can you see while in bed?

What a silly thing to complain about.

I wasn't complaining about the lack of a bedskirt. I honestly thought that housekeeping forgot to put them on our beds, and was alerting them to that. And what I was making a comment on was the lack of communication and knowledge on the part of the housekeeping staff and front desk staff.

And because I always take the comforters off the beds the second I get in ANY hotel room (they are not washed between guests, and go ahead and Google hotel bedspreads if you want to understand why I do this - you'll never sit on a hotel bedspread again :scared1:), so yeah, I DO see the bare box spring when I'm in the room. It looks cheap and janky, and I'm surprised Disney didn't so some magic with the suppliers and have their box springs made in a 'Disney' fabric.

If you would like to give me a list of approved items about which to complain, I'd be happy to take it under advisement.

Sheesh.

You can complain about whatever you want, but before I wasted my time on that I would have just called housekeeping a requested two clean bed spreads and enjoyed the look how Disney ment it to be.

I see. It's wasting time if I call them to ask something I'm curious about, but it's not wasting time if I call to ask them to change out bedspreads I would never in a million years sit on. OK, just wanting to check. Thanks for letting me know which is a waste of time, because heck, how else would I ever know? :confused3

God bless the helpful folk on these boards - how else would I know what I am and am not supposed to do? Would you like to advise me on anything else I'm doing wrong? Should I take the monorail or the ferry to MK next time? Hoop Dee Doo or O'Hana? Boxers or briefs?

Well one you are just curious about the other you can have a bed spread that is clean and can sit on (oh and look nice on the bed). Why would you not sit on a clean bedspread?

I'd rather just take the one off the bed and sit on the blankets - I know they're clean. And I'd like to apologize - I was unnecessarily snarky before, and that's not like me.

Have a great day!
