My DH and I are going for a few days in June for a wedding in Orlando. Although the wedding isnt a "disney" wedding, the Groom is his relative and a cast member. We are booked at the "all star" resort (dont know wich one) I've never staied at a "value" resort and I am sort of worried...what are your thoughts on this resort vs. staying "off-site"?

Thanks!

Before I styaed at a value I'd stay at the Hilton in DTD.

It's cleaner, quieter, with nicer amenities and decor much more to my taste, for about the same price.

What are your worries? I'd much prefer staying at a value resort on-sight to most off sight hotels but it would depend on what worries you I suppose :scratchin

I think it depends what your priorities are and your budget. If I stayed off-site (even at DTD) I'd want a rental car. I wouldn't want to rely on a shuttle. So that adds to your wedding budget. Did you have to pay for your plane tix? $$ Are you in the wedding party? $$$ Gift.$$$ Add all the moeny you're already spending on the wedding and recreation to a rental car. Can you swing it? Plus are you going to be in the parks a lot? How long are you staying? I wouldn't give up the access to the EMH. I know a lot of people hate Values. If I could afford to stay at Moderates or higher every trip I definitely would but sometimes we can't. And if Pop Century or All-Star Movies is all I can afford than we are fine with it. I've never stayed in a deluxe. My bank likes to get their mtge. payment every month so that would be a treat for us. I am hoping to get a decent AP rate at WL for August, though. I've stayed at every moderate except for RIverside and I have to say for us, it was no big deal. We've stayed at CBR many times but last summer were not happy. It's annoying to have to take a bus to eat!! We weren't that far but it was a pretty long walk after all the walking we'd already done during the day. And the food court is much better, IMHO, than at CBR. Didn't like CSR at all and many people love it. Not Disney enough for me & didn't care for the food court set-up. So I would say unless you're a Deluxe all the way family, you'll be fine. You're really not in the room that much. I guess you'll already have a car though, now that I think about it because how will you get to the wedding , LOL! Is the whole wedding party staying at the All- Star? The only All-Star I would NEVER stay at-ever- is Sports. we walked over there fromMusic when we stayed there back when they opened and found it much more loud and busy. We're not into Sports at all so that could be it. I probably wouldn't stay at Music either just because we like Movies and Pop so much better.

Good luck & don't worry it's Disney and it's a wedding. Happy & Happy!!

We have stayed at ASMO and ASSP. I would definitely go back there before staying offsite. Id even go back there before going to a moderate, LOL! ;)

I'm not really quite SURE what my issues are...just wondering about them..but like some of you have said...you'd rather stay ON rather than OFF site that is..lol. Yes we have a car set up...and we did have to pay for the plane tix, car rental AND hotel, not to mention gift. The wedding party is staying at POP so i'm glad it's full and we cant stay there..lol.

We really wont have much time to do much of anything since the bride and groom have our days there full. OHH..btw, my husband is the groom's cousin and is IN the wedding...(he was a chef at mama's and is now at PO's boatrights SP?? and the food is VERY GOOD)

defnintely, without a second thought, I would stay at a value before staying off site. I have stayed at deluxe concierge, deluxe, moderate and value....whatever the budget allows, I do...no matter what, it's still Disney!

I've stayed at All-Star Movies and All-Star Sports. We had an excellent time at both places and would definately stay there again vs. staying off-site.

Another vote for the values.
We have stayed at Values, Moderates, and Deluxes and honestly we do not think it is worth at least $200 more per night for a Deluxe.
We somehow always find ourselves back at ASMu. We have never had a bad experience there in over 10 trips. We will be back there in less than a month !
