Was doing a check of what it would cost to stay at the value resort again with our family of 5 with 4 days of just magaic your way tickets and the price of camping. I found that if my in-laws (mother and father) were to stay with us in the camper compared to all of use at the value resort it would be practically free for them (mother and father in law) including their tickets. Still trying to convience my wife that on our last trip we all (18 of us) pretty much went on our own except for a couple of meals and met at the parks and that having rooms right next to each other wasn't a big deal. Although it would cost more on gas by bringing the truck and camper as compared to the mini van we would still save alot to use on other things if we wanted.

I vote for FW. With little ones especially to have your own home and not have to worry about what they might be crawling in on the floor.:scared:

As long as you're driving anyway, I would pull the trailer down and stay at the Fort! I think your kids would have a great time there. Plus, I'd much rather sleep in my own bed!

STAY AT THE FORT ! Its just so much more fun than being in a hotel room. Our family would never choose any place other than Fort Wilderness. We also save a fortune on food and drinks. Really, a Fort Wilderness vacation is priceless. Man, just 10 weeks from friday night and we head that way!

Prior to 2002, we always stayed at Disney's deluxe resorts (Contemporary, Polynesian, Wilderness Lodge). In 2002 we stayed in our camper at Fort Wilderness for the first time, and we haven't been back to a WDW hotel in a dozen trips since. The cost is not even a factor - we just prefer Fort Wilderness to any of the other Disney accommodations, including the deluxe resorts. The values wouldn't stand a chance in that comparison.

I'd vote for the fort as well. To me a hotel room at Disney now that we have a camper is out of the question. You could call me today and give me a week at the Grand and I'd trade it for the 900 loop in a sec. Wanted to also mention that that's a sweet hybrid you got there.

This was along the same lines as what I was thinking, going over the options. I figured if we were saving the money for plane fare by driving, we may as well bring the camper down.

When I considered this for our family, one thing I remembered was the convinence of having a place to "hang out" besides inside the hotel room.

We've taken our family of six to FW in our camper probably 5 times. The last time we went, we stayed at POR since there were only five of us. I remember DH and I waking up at our normal early workday hours - and not wanting to distrub the sleeping (meaning grouchy) kids (probably 13-11 yrs at that time) we left the room to get coffee and sat by the pool to give them longer to sleep. I remember it being cold and laying on the lounger and falling back asleep. Not pleasant.

You said you'd have grandparents with you - and that made me think about how nice it would be to sit outside the camper, drink your morning beverage, walk around - and still not disturb who was still sleeping inside.

AND - if you put the grandparents name on the reservation, they could choose to fly down to meet you and take the Disney Magical Express. You could pack their luggage in the camper and all they'd have to worry about would be having a carry on with them if they chose.

So that is a round-about way of saying that I think camping at the fort would be my vote!

We stayed @ Pop in Dec. 07, and the resort was fine. It was just Me, my mom, and DS then 12. If DH had been with us, we have have had the camper & been at FW. The thing I love most about camping is having our own space and food. By mid trip, we were tired of eating out for every meal. I kept thinking how nice it would be if we were at FW and could just throw a steak on the grill! When you bring your own camper, you also have the comforts of home on your vacation.

I would also say FW if you didn't have the equiptment or were flying then maybe not but since you are already driving might as well take the camper and stay at the Fort
