My DD 10 and I will be there in August 2009. I was thinking about 7 nights at a value resort or should I spend 5 nights at moderate resort? Since it is just me and my DD I thinks the value resort would be fine, we have stayed at the POP before and enjoyed ourselfs. What are your opionions?:confused3

I would go for more days and a value! We love POP as well! Have a great trip!

Hi Rose - Single Mom Traveler here

5 nights = how many days in the parks for you? 5? 4.5?

A ten year old is at that age where they love ALL the rides - all the parks, right? The can go from Dumbo to ToT and RnRC.

In that case, I think you need the max amt of time - 7 days for you!

My DD and I stayed at ASMu last August for 10 days and we had a ball. For a parent and child, the values are great. We didn't need more room.

I have made a decision to splurge more this year since I am going to force her to travel to "real world" destinations after this year - other countries, etc. But, if I didn't have the $$$ for the Deluxe (plus we are on a time limit this year - so cannot do more than 7 nts), I would happily and enthusiastically return to the value resort and have a great time.

I am still trying to talk her out of values and into WL or Poly. Tweens love the values!!

With just two people, I'd go for more days at the value.

I would just stay value and opt for more time. There is not much difference really except for 2 sinks. . .and a bit more elaborate swimming area. I have stayed at ASMu and Pop and liked both very much. ASMu I preferred, but most prefer Pop. Just a lot of fun and great themeing.

I'll strongly agree with everyone else! More nights at a value. If you don't I think you'll really regret it the day you have to leave and know you could still be there another two days. You can never get it all done on a Disney trip (well maybe if you stayed a month) but the more time the better in my book. Since your daughter loved Pop, why mess with a good thing? Have a great trip!

In short, mods and deluxe are nice if you need / want it, otherwise go to a value and blitz the parks for all they are worth! If you do that you'll only need the resort for sleep, and that can be done anywhere :cloud9:

My first question is what does your DD say? If she likes the values, then I'd say stay there. I've only been to one and decided I'm not a value girl. My pocketbook just doesn't justify a deluxe most times.

I would choose the value! You get more days at WDW and save a little. If your DD is into music, I would definitely choose AS Music resort. It was great when we stayed in December and newly renovated!! AS Movies was great in April, but wasn't newly renovated. That didn't hurt our stay any though.:thumbsup2

POP is always a great resort (we've stayed there 9 times) and always good for a few good laughs!!!

Even though I'd rather stay at a moderate (bigger rooms, nicer grounds & pool), I'll always go with more days. A week frees you up to be more relaxed in your touring.

Definitely more days and stay at a value. With just the two of you value should be fine. I have stayed at them all and enjoyed them all. Last year was Music and loved it, this year trying Pop again.

IMHO- a mod gets you:

slightly larger room (perhaps another 30-40sq. feet) (don't notice the diff really)
an extra sink (don't need with only 2 people)
a slide (would use MAYBE once to try it but that's it)
a hot tub (might use for 20 minutes)
a TS restaurant (wouldn't use as the mod TS places don't really thrill me menu wise)

For us- none of these things warrants me paying perhaps double the cost of a value. I need a bed, a bathroom, a tv and a food court. We do the parks commando, and don't need all the fancy lobbies, high end granite sink in the bathroom...

With just 2 people- I'd for sure do a value. I am going with my mom and booked a value. There are 2 beds, plenty of space for 2 people.

Since it's just the 2 of you it's probably not worth the money to stay at a moderate. I would rather stay 2 more days. How many days are you going to the parks? For us we are a family of four so I think the extra space and more relaxing theme would be ideal. But if it were just DD and I and we couldn't stay deluxe then we would stay at Pop. It will be nice to have 2 extra days.

Thanks everyone you all are totally right I think 2 extra days in the parks will be better. We will even get to go to downtown disney (we haven't been there in past trips) I am looking forward to having the extra time. Thanks

I agree more nights at a value over less at a moderate. You are not in your room that much anyhow. After all its Disney World. :)

Have a great trip!

IMO the biggest difference between mods and values is the refrigerator that is included in a mod. But that would not be enough to keep me from the longer stay at a value. The other differences are minor.

:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

As much as I love the moderate (CSR), I would definitely take more takes in the park since you are traveling with your 10-year old daughter.
