We are planning out trip to WDW in June 2008. This will be our family of four first time. The price difference between moderate and value is about $1000. Is it worth it to stay in a moderate?

It's difficult to answer that for you because it depends on whether or not your family can afford the $1000 it takes to upgrade. If you cannot, I'm sure you will be able to manage with the value. If you can, I would suggest upgrading to the moderate. It also depends on which you are thinking about.

A lot will depend of the ages of your kids....the rooms at the values are smaller than the moderates but if you children are younger that should not be a problem......with teenagers I would say a moderate just for a larger room. There were 3 of us in room at the Pop last month and it got a little crowded after a few days.:dance3:

POFQ is not as spread out as the other mods or the values.

POR CBR and CSR are very spread out.

The Values are laid out closer together.

The mods have pool slides, a hot tub and a sit down restaurant (POFQ doses not have a sit down restaurant but shares with POR.

There is not much room size difference between a mod and a value.

Here is the layout of a mod.
The bathroom is about the same size as the All Stars but you will have 2 sinks instead of one.

The mod has 54 square feet more than the value.
That means if both the mod and the value room were 27 feet long than the mod would be 2 feet wider. Just enough room for a double sink instead of a single.

To me there is not a lot of room size difference.

Have fun at Disney wherever you choose to stay!:wizard:

I stayed in POR in July and loved it. Now I am going in March/April and staying in POP so I am a little hesitant but I am doing it cause I am paying for a trip for my younger cousins so they can see Disney. if you can afford it I say go for the mod. They have sit down restaurants and food courts where the values only have food courts. The theme of POR is gorgeous and the boat ride to DTD is fantastic.

If you can afford it then I would go with the moderate. You may be able to get a code if you keeping checking this board around spring next year. Additionally, if you are a AAA member you may also be able to get a discount using your card. When picking a mod I would go with either PORS or CSR as both are very nice. CSR is my fave and it does have a better pool/slide that the kids love not to mention a cute playground area. There are also more food options at the food court and some of the choices could probably be split between your kids as there is plenty of food on the plate. PORS is wonderful as well but the slide isn't as long as CSRs but is fun anyway. Either way have a wonderful time planning.

I have made the official switch to the Moderates. Honestly, there is something much more relaxing about them that I love, especially the Port Orleans resorts. As the PP said, look for a discount code, too. They often bring the cost down.

I was deciding between a value and a moderate resort. Interestingly enough, I didn't even consider the price difference. I just priced the moderate resort, added on the cost of the tickets, and decided upon that price quote if we could afford it or not. Now, if we would have been shocked by the price, I would have definitely given the value resorts another look. I truthfully wanted to stay at a moderate though. Is the total price of a moderate something you and your family can handle paying? Then I'd definitely say go with it!!!

$1,000 is a lot of money that could be used for other things like better restaurants and activities. We won't stay at a value resort because we spend a good amount of time at the resort, and to us it is worth the extra money. The pool areas are nicer. Rooms are nicer. The landscaping is nicer. The location is usually better. The decor at the value resorts is fun for young kids, but I wouldn't reccomend them for teenagers. If you think you will spend most of your time at the theme parks and don't plan on spending much time at the resort, don't spend the money. There are plenty of fun things you can spend the money on at Disney. My daughter's favorite memory from last trip was the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique at Downtown Disney. My sons always enjoy the watercraft rentals.

I have to agree with everything that has been said so far regarding your question. The upgrade is a bit pricey but I feel very worth it. We stayed at POP last year and it was our first time at a value resort. Never again. If I am going to Disney World I want to actually feel like I am there, not at some Super 8 with a 4 story bowling pin. I was very unimpressed and if it means going to disney once every couple years instead of every year, so be it.

I would do a moderate if you can. We stayed at a value once and never again! We love CSR!
