value or moderate resort? Is the xtra worth it?

For us (being DVC members, but need more points.) having a refrigerator is a must. Now all mods and Deluxes having them inculeded, they cost $10 at values. So really the price of a value would be $10 more for us. When we stayed at PROS in May it was 79 for a mod and 59 for a value, (with an email code) so it was a no brainer for us. Depends on the difference.

I have to say I have stayed at many WDW resorts, all them mods and many Deluxes and DVC, but no values so I can't really say.

Last year we stayed at POR and WL...but also visited a friend who was at WDW at the same time, staying at Pop Century. Pop has cute decor but the food court was quite noisy and the "atmosphere" just wasn't the same as at POR. It felt more "motel-ish."

POR was tranquil, beautifully landscaped, had many activities (including the boat ride to POFQ and DTD, and the ability to use the POFQ pool if we wanted). We enjoyed not only the Ol' Man Island pool but a gorgeous "quiet" pool in Magnolia Bend. We loved the Riverside Mill Food Court, which is much nicer than the food courts and snack bars at some of the "Deluxe" resorts (i.e., Captain Cook's at Poly, which is tiny!). It was so nice in the morning, people would be strolling past the ducks to fill their mugs...Riverside Mill even has "mug-washing" stations!...my children could eat their cereal while watching Disney cartoons on a TV in the corner of R.M. (I didn't especially care for our dinner at Boatwright's, however. The only so-so meal of our trip.) You'd still have a good time staying at a value, but I'd spend the extra money for a moderate without hesitating.

Moderate, definitely, over value.

Yes, we aren't in your room much during the day--BUT, when we get back to our room we want to relax, unwind, sleep! We love POR because there's a quiet pool for each group of buildings, which means CLOSE. They're open all night--the kids love to take a dip when we get back from the parks. I agree with the values being more like motels, and it's worth it to us to pay a little more to get a little more.

Everyone has a definite idea about disney resorts--can you tell??? :goodvibes

I've never stayed at a value or moderate before. However I can tell you that with an AP code I have payed 110 a night at a Deluxe. I think rack rate at a value is $100.00

There is a world of difference in the room quality and noise. My parents chose to stay in a value on their last trip and said that noise level was a little high and I remeber my mother saying something about the walk from the bus to the room being longer.

For the $10 I wouldn't even think of doing anything different. I usually stay at the AKL. My kids enjoy the animals and my wife enjoys walking around the lobby sitting in front of the fire etc etc. And having the restaurants in the resort is very very nice after a day in the park.

Also buying the Annual Pass as one ticket and MYW for the rest will entitle you to the room and some restaurant discounts. You have to be staying at least 4 nights for it to become worth it.

So in short go for the upgrade from value to moderate. At the very least you'll sleep better (that's what you need the most after a day in the parks).
