Value of Points in December

We have reservations at BWV for 12/23 - 12/29/06 in a 2 bedroom villa. I was just at the disneyworld.com site and decided to check the rates to see how much it would cost if we were to book the room for cash during that time: Resort Total: $7,158.36 WOW!!!

WOW!! That's incredible! Now I understand why you need so many points at that time of year.

That week is the busiest week of the year, every year. On New Years Eve the parks are all jammed. Last year I remember seeing 3 hour wait times for rides. Its that busy.

But I will be there again this year! We love it that time of year, crowds and all!

Yes, someone posted the other day that a 3 BR would cost over $11,000 during that time! $11,000! That's nuts!!

Makes the Christmas week we stayed in a GV at OKW with 5 people seem really extravagant. It was a wonderful time and only happened because some people dropped out of the trip. This year I reserved a 2BR and Studio in case that should happen again. My DVC purchase has more than paid for itself in the 6 years I have owned. In fact after the first two or three trips I think it had about reached the break even point. Of course I was fortunate in not having to fiannce the purchase.

Has anyone rented from a Owner and if so what have you paid? I can't believe people pay $7500-11,000. That's a double Wow!!!!

It's crazy! Just for fun, I added up what the rack rate cost would be for our 2-bedroom Boardwalk villa for 11 nights in December and it was $11,417 , including tax. Plus, we have a Boardwalk View! I don't think you can reserve a Boardwalk View room thru CRO when paying cash...
