Valet parking tipping

My DH wanted me to post this question. He never knows how much to tip when we valet park. We love to use this free perk when we stay at WDW but it always throws him into a tizzy when he has to tip. He usually gives anywhere from $1-$3. Does that sound reasonable?

Personal choice but based on what I have seen in discussions before the average tip members give is in $3 range although some give more and some less but few just $1.

We usually give $2 picking up and $2 dropping off, unless we get extra assistance from the valet.

My DH doesn't tip when we are leaving the vehicle with valet...he only tips when they bring the vehicle back to us (I have no idea why he does it that way). He usually tips $3.00-$5.00.

We tip only on pick-up. $2-3, more if they do some special service for us like loading bags into the car.

We usually tip $2 on drop-off and $2 on pickup unless it is raining and then we usually tip a few dollars more.

The general guidelines on tipping are to tip on pick up, just like it is to tip on the final destination of the bags. You can do an internet search and you'll find a number of options with many saying $1-2 and others saying $2-3. If you look enough you will see a couple of outliers to $5. I think I've only seen one time where a formal tipping etiquette recommendation was to tip both directions.

I usually tip $2 on pickup. If they are quick on dropoff, I will tip them too. If I'm standing there waiting for someone to come over and take it, I usually don't on dropoff.
