Valet Parking Required at Boardwalk?

Hi. During my last trip to Disney in October 2008, I wanted to stop at the Boardwalk to eat at Big River Grille, and they required me to pay a charge and take valet parking, even though I was fine just parking myself.

We're returning to the world in January and are planning to head over to the Boardwalk at some point. Is this valet requirement still in effect? I believe it was like $10, which seems really unnecessary.

If self parking is full, valet parking would be the only choice. They do leave some spaces open for hotel guests. You went in October, that is Food & Wine Festival time and parking is often restricted because people try to park there and go to Epcot. It shouldn't be in January.

Your best bet if the main lot is full is to park in the lot across the street, right after the gas station on the right.

We were there about 2 weeks ago and self parking was in full bloom!:confused3. Spaces were very sparse to say the least:headache:

There is overflow parking near the gas station for the Boardwalk. They usually have parking available there, just a bit longer of a haul to the destination.

We were there this past October and had no problems parking at BW to eat there. :thumbsup2

That makes sense about the Food and Wine Festival affecting the parking in 2008. I'm glad to hear that it shouldn't be an issue. Thanks everyone!

Just a note...it really will depend on what part of January you'll be there...if it's a busy Saturday night, or on MLK Jr. Weekend, or on Marathon weekend, then you may find the valet-only parking in effect. We have seen this at the Epcot resorts & the monorail resorts during relatively low-crowd weeks...but come Saturday night, they're turning cars away from self-park lots.

During the week in January, it should not be a problem, though.
