OK I am just a simple girl from Missouri so I have no idea how this valet parking thing works since I have never used a valet service.

Can someone explain how the system works if you are staying at a resort with valet service and you are driving your car a lot while there?

The valet service costs $6.00 per day (the charge is simply billed to your room), and allows you to come and go as often as you like at any resort that offers valet service.

The daily fee does not include tips for the valet, usually $1 or $2 (More if they're loading or unloading luggage for you) when you pick up or drop off your car.

Downtown Disney is the only place that your "valet pass" is not vaild, there would be an additional charge to use their service in the evenings.

Hope that helps a bit.

I just wanted to add that you can self-park at the resorts where valet is also available. You aren't "forced" to do the valet thing and, if you are using your car a lot, you might tire of the extra tipping. It is, however, a nice convenience.

If you decide to use the valet service it will be billed to your room. Pull up when you are ready to check in and your luggage will be unloaded for you. I usually tip $1-2/bag depending on size, etc. They will take your keys and put them in a little envelope and keep them. If you every need to get anything from your car, ask for the keys at the valet window and they will tell you where your car is. If you want to take your car somewhere call valet from your room about 5 minutes before heading down. Your car will be waiting for you. $1-2 tip each time someone brings you the car or takes it from you is typical. One thing you might do is use valet for the check-in day and then self-park after that - saves money but keeps you from having to lug the luggage from the self-park lot.
Enjoy your trip!

Yes but keep in mind that even if you don't valet you can always get help with your luggage. They will unload it from your car and put it on a cart and give you a ticket with a number and your name. Then you can self park and walk back to the entrance and a bell hop will take your luggage to your room.

When you check out it is reverse, you can have the bellhop load your luggage onto a cart, take it downstairs, you can go get your car and they will load it up for you.

I always prefer to valet especially if it's just dd and I. She's only 4 and she doesn't understand getting back in the car once we unload to park. It also makes it easier for us to go places during the day by having the car right upfront when we're ready to leave (especially when it's raining). When dh comes with us, he'll go and get the car:) Valet parking (to me) is worth the extra $10 a day (that's factoring in tips).

Another perk is that you can valet at all of the WDW resorts throughout the day with no time limit.

This may not apply to you but thought I would add it in for others reading this post.

If you have a handicap plate or placard valet is free. However you should still tip.
