We will be renting a car during our next trip and will finally be able to take advantage of the DVC free valet parking perk. I'm wondering, however, what an appropriate tip might be? (We have a lack of valet parking opportunities here in NH:goodvibes )

Thanks!

I tip $2 when the car is delivered, more if they assist further with luggage, groceries, wheelchair, etc. Consider increasing the tip in bad weather when I will often double it. The recognized standard is tipping only upon delivery of the vehicle.

If you search the internet for tipping etiquette you'll find the standard is likely around $2 per and on delivery, none at drop off. Some sites will say $1-2, others $2-3 for the most part. What's ideal does depend somewhat on other factors like promptness, courtesy, weather, other services.

I tip $5 at delivery. My valet parking is at BWV and they have to run so far to get the car that I feel they deserve the $5. With the new system at BWV one valet guy takes the luggage out of the car and hands it over to the bellman. I'm not sure if I need to tip that guy, then tip the bellman who puts the luggage in storage until the room is ready and then tip the bellman who delivers it to the room. Sometimes I tip everyone and other times I just tip the bellman who brings the luggage to the room.

We have been tipping $2.00 at drop off and pick up, after reading these few reply's I might go to $3.00 at pick up only. I think they expect to get money each way, they seem to Waite just long enough when they give you the parking tag for a tip. :confused3

DH tips $3.00 - $5.00 each time the car is brought to us.

It just depends upon what kind of cash we have in our wallets at the time.

$2 in and out. If it's my own car and not a rental then I tip more in hopes they will take care of it.

I'm glad I clicked on this subject. We always tip at drop off and pick up and usually around $3. I might have to change my ways after reading this.

Thanks,
Terry
