Valentines Day at DLR / Islander question

So does DLR do anything special for valentines day? We just set the date for our trip as 2/13 to 2/20/2011. We booked the Islander 3 queen bed suite for the 5 of us. Does anyone have any experience with this type of room or for that matter any type of room there? My dad is physically disabled and my son has disabilities also so I need to make sure my dad can move around the room and that there is good locks on the doors and windows for my son. Any info is greatly appreciated!

No one has been on valentines day? lol. oh well.

I was there on Valentines Day 2009. They had special pins that they gave out when you ate at a restaurant. (we atea t BB) They were Mickey and Minnie dining and a little heart or something. I think someone else reported that the characters had some special outfits on, but my family is not that intune to the characters, so I did not notice.

Well a pin is definitely a small souvenir. At least i won't have to worry about finding room for it in my suitcase. Do you know if any of the restaurants have special meals/desserts that they do? It's going to be my dad's last trip to DLR and we wanna make it memorable. Heck it doesn't even have to be on Valentines day, just a special dessert any day.

My family and I have stayed at the Islander inn and suites.

Pro's***
-EXCELLENT value for the money.
-clean
-nice staff
-fridge, micro
-tv's in both rooms

Con's***
-NO ELEVATOR. Make sure you ask for ground level if the disaability will not do well with stairs.
-" complimentary breakfast", I'd skip, not impressive at all. Our family just did cereal, fruit, and pastries in the room.
-bathroom is not very big.

I would stay there again if the prices are good, it was a clean plaec to lay my head after a day at the happiest place on earth!

Oh and I forgot. The locks are typical of any hotel. there is a chain lock if I remember, and a deadbolt.

Hi Sean's momma! I know Napa Rose has a special pre-fixe menu for Valentine's Day and other major holidays (i.e. Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's). Unfortunately, that means you can only order off that menu and not their regular one. It's $85/person but very good food there!
