Valentine Surprise -- Call from MK to VA

My DH (who is stuck in FL/WDW with cancelled business flight) arranged some neat chats with Disney Princesses for us back home in VA.

Here is a photo of my girls talking through a "Magic Mirror" to Princess Tiana and Prince Naveen today as part of the Valentine's surprise.



It was great fun and a way for DH to share his unexpected trip to WDW with us.

We got to talk to Ariel (2x), Tinker Bell, Rosetta, Gaston, Jasmine and Aladdin, too. Each time my girls are dressing up as the character and showing their own dolls. You should have seen Gaston admiring himself in the mirror and flirting with my daughter's Belle doll!

Up next is Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty in about 20 minutes when his FP+ begins.

The characters have been so excited to talk through the Magic Mirror and still remain in character. It has been great. The only one we can't do is Talking Mickey Mouse since "Mickey has trouble talking in mirrors!"

My DH is introducing himself as a cousin of the Beast who lent him a Magic Mirror to chat with his family back home in snowy Virginia. Cast members have been enjoying this, too, and said it was the first time anyone tried to do this.

Yeah, he is brilliant! I figured I'd share with my Disfriends b/c I'm sure others have taken trips without kids (business or adult getaway) and it's a fun way to bring some pixie dust home.

How can you do that? Can you explain please? I would love to do this with my girls

It's just like a Skype call. We have iPads so are using the Facetime app.

We weren't sure if Disney would have an issue with it or not so DH has been asking permission first and the CM think it's great.

We once collected autographs for a cousin who had been in a bad wreck and was in hospital, can't imagine how great this would be to someone who is sick, shut-in or just snowed in! Your girls must have been so excited!!!

Yes, that would be neat to do, too, collecting autographs for others.

I figure the characters only give you so much time to meet with them and if you want to use it all on a call, it should be fine. Now if you are getting photos and autographs and trying to do a call, I can see where the CM will rush you along. But since it's just DH, he isn't really interested in chatting/photograph of himself, so he's using his time to have them talk to us.

They are super excited.
