I can't think of a craft idea that the boys in my daughter's 5th grade class. Was hoping one of the other moms would step up and offer to do something at the party Friday --

Ideas Please! (Budget friendly preferred!) We'll have 20 minutes to a half hour for the craft.

Thank you!

I think that the Disney Family Fun has some great ideas. They have all kids of craft, food, and other family friendly ideas. http://familyfun.go.com/

I think at that age that a food craft might be best. Boys that age are really not into the craft thing anymore but if they can eat it they will make it.

Decorate your own cupcakes or cookies would be fun and not too expensive!!

Last year, My DS was in 5th. They did not want to do crafts. How about a hot chocolate bar with toppings?

Last year my son was in 5th grade. They decorated a cardboard picture frame with conversation hearts. Class mom took a black/white picture of him that is in the frame - it's my favorite pic of him

How about some games instead.

My dd is in 3rd grade & they did games for Halloween & loved it. One was eat the donut off the string. Another was guess what is in that container, etc....

Maybe a game like pin cupids arrow on him & draw a picture on cardboard of cupid or even a heart & you have to pin the arrow on it/tip of the arrow.

Or have multiple jars of candy (small jars!) & have the kids guess the amount & the closest wins.

This will be the third time our class (3rd grade now) has been doing Valentine cards for others for their craft for the party. We've done Valentine Cards for the VA Hospital or we are lucky to have a USO at the DFW airport for returning troops from overseas. The organizations love to receive them.

Winter holiday party is about them but we wanted them to think of others at Valentine's Day. I'm sure a local nursing home or hospital would love to receive handmade Valentines from the kids. After the party, we put them in a box and one of us delivers them to the facility....

It is a very inexpensive craft. Paper, scissors and stickers....

Our idea has caught on and now other grades are doing the same thing for their craft.
Good Luck!

What an awesome idea! Love it!

If I'm doing any kind of craft project with boys I go for the gross and slimy things that boys delight in.

Here are a couple of my "recipes":

Blubber
Mix ¼ cup water & ¼ cup white glue in a bowl.

Mix ¼ cup water & 1 tablespoon borax in another bowl. Stir borax mixture while adding glue mix.

Silly Putty

Mix 2 tablespoons liquid starch and 2 tablespoons white glue with hands until it forms a ball.

Knead 5-10 minutes. If too sticky add a little more starch. If too runny add a little more glue.
