MGM DAY :)

Today was our first day at the parks and our MGM day. We got to MGM around 9:10 a.m. After going through security, we walked right on Star Tours. I have to say that I was not impressed. DH and I had gone on Back to the Future in USF last year and that is my all-time favorite ride. This was a similar concept but not nearly as good. Sorry, JMHO. After the ride, we qued up to meet Socerer Mickey. The line moved quickly and DS was thrilled to finally meet Mickey. We also caught Donald Duck right outside on the street. He's another of Alex's favorites. We tried to get into Playhouse Disney but the line was huge so we decided to come back later and do The Great Movie Ride next. We walked right on this one and got the front seat. I was a little nervous that DS would be scared being so close but when the gun battle erupted, he was smiling and clapping. Go figure! The alien part bothered him because of the loud steam noise but I covered his ears and he never even saw the alien. Acutually, I was so busy with him, I didn't see it either. We then went on the Backlot tour. This was pretty interesting to me but boring to DS. We then went to see the One Man's Dream exhhibit. Again this was interesting to an adult but not a 2 yr. old overdue for a nap. The Muppets was well done and DS liked it a lot. He didn't wear his glasses but that was probably just as well. By this point, DH was itching to hit the big rides so he went off to TOT while DMil, DS, and I sat at a little fruit place letting DS enjoy an apple. DH took one of the walkie-talkies so we could meet up after his ride. I figured it would be at least an hour. About 15 minutes later, DH is on the radio saying he's done. The wait was only 5 minutes. I was surprised! So, we told him to head over to R-N-R and we would meet him at the exit. Another 5 minute wait and he was out. He really enjoyed both, especially R-N-R. Sorry I can't report 1st hand because I am a huge chicken and you would have had to drag me on either of these things. We decided to split a couple of pretzals between us and try Playhouse Disney again. There was still a huge line. Oh well, it was okay because DS fell sleep around this point anyway. DMil stayed with him while DH and I used our fastpass for Who Wants to Be a Millionaire. This show was really neat. I enjoyed it a lot but I must admit I did not try to get in that hot seat. I knew the answers but I took my time pushing the buttons because I did not want to have to be in front of everyone. It was a lot of fun to watch, though. Once we were done, we went back to find DS awake. We headed over to the Little Mermaid show. Everyone enjoyed this one. By this point, we were getting pretty hungry so we decided to save Playhouse Disney for another trip and to leave to go get some dinner. We ended up at Red Lobster which is my all-time favorite and there aren't any near where we live so it is a real treat for me. We all ate some good seafood -- yummy!! Overall, I think I liked USF better than MGM. Although, we did have a really great day. We saw lots and lots of characters -- more than any other park. I think I just really fell in love with USF last year. We were back to the hotel pretty early and we just relaxed and watched a little TV before turning in around 11:00 p.m.

Too bad you couldn't get into Playhouse - it is a real cute show - a nice day for all - thanks for posting!

:bounce: Bumping up for family and friends :) ! :Pinkbounc

Great report. I love MGM so I enjoyed reading this very much.

I appreciate your honest opinion of MGM vs USF!

We have never been to either USF or IOA so can't compare.

It's funny, I can't stand (my stomach LOL) virtual rides like ST or BTTF but love RNR & ToT!

And Marla is right, Playhouse Disney is a good show for the toddlers (especially if your DS watches the Disney channel);)

Thanks again for sharing your day!
