I need to replace my valances over our sliding glass door to the patio. Where do you suggest I look?

I bought some valances on the JCP site but the hardware / rod already there is too wide to hang them.

I don't remember where I bought the valances that I currently have there. Guess its time to replace them ;)

I have vertical blinds so only want an understated, smallish valance.

Help, please! TIA!

Other then the basic chain stores like Macy's, Kohls, Sears I can't think of anything. I will let you know if I do though!

Okay, today I went to Lowes, Bed Bath & Beyond, Macy's, Target and Home Depot. I still can't find valances that fit a 2 - 2 1/2 inch rod.

HELP PLEASE!

Anyone know of other online companies that may have them? I can't believe its this difficult to find them!! :confused3

TIA

countrycurtains.com

They have lots of valances with 3" rod pockets, tab valances, etc.

I don't know if there's a Calico Corners|Calico Home near you, but through them you could get EXACTLY what you're looking for in fabric choice, style, and with the exact width you need. They're a bit pricier than JCP, BB&B, etc., but in my biased opinion (since I work at their HQ), I think they're worth it.

I second the sewing. I've done two valances myself using iron on "stitch witchery," no sewing at all, because I wanted simple, understated valances.

One, I took a piece of heavy fabric (it was actually the extra hem of a really long curtain I'd bought at IKEA that I was using on the closet in the same room) folded it over and ironed a hem in on all the ends. Then I folded it in half and sewed decorative buttons on it to close it up and stuck it over the existing curtain rod.

The second one I really only wanted it to be three inches deep to make it look like an ulpholstered valance. I used heavy fabric, measured around the curtain rod and just fashioned it however I thought would work, ironed on the seems and stuck it on.

Both worked great. The first one was definitely more decorative though with the buttons.

OP here again :)

So I've tried every link y'all suggested (thanks again) and still don't have valances :sad2: (and I don't sew, even as little for valances)

This is similar to what I'm hoping to find, or even something more pointy / pointed. I need 4 of these, and not in blue, and for a 2.5" rod.

So this is a last ditch effort to see if anyone has an idea, because someone here always has an idea or answer that works. I HEART THE DIS!

buy a new rod?

lol Thats the easy part. I will definitely buy a new rod IF / when I can find the type of valance I'm looking for.

I want something light and breezy, not formal and heavy, because it's a door leading to a bright, airy patio.

Anyone see anything resembling this kind of valance anywhere?

Topping my own thread :sad2:
Because I just realized how confusing it is :sad2:

The valance / link I posted is *ONLY* available in blue.

I'm looking for something, anything similar in a light cream, beige, something neutral, and NOT blue.

(If I wanted blue, I'd just order these LOL)

Sorry if that was confusing? And sure hope someone might have seen something - ANYTHING similar somewhere?

I really have tried everywhere on line, and in stores.

TIA. Appreciate any ideas.

Since you bought some that you like already but don't fit the rods, I'd just get new rods to fit them and have those installed.

I didn't really like them, and returned them soon after I bought them.

Thank you all for your ideas and replies.

Still haven't found what I'm looking for - again, they're very pointy / pointed and very light, airy, fresh -- not much to them.

AGain, thanks ALL and still hoping to find 'the one' ;)
