Vacuum Cleaner Recommendations

Hated my Dyson, ended up finally convincing them to take it back as a lemon (it had been in the shop three times making griding noises) and they gave me a new one - that made grinding noises.

I have a $49 Dirt Devil that works better than the Dyson ever did and a $700 Meile. I love them both for different reasons, but most days I just pull out the $49 Dirt Devil (its cord is too short, but for $49 I have an extention cord).

The BEST suckiest vacuum Eureka Air Speed 12 amps $89.00 at Wal-Mart ( out of stock online but link to see anyway )

I remember I laughed when I first took it out of the box ( last year maybe ? ) because on the front of the canister was a sticker claiming better than Dyson at 1/2 the price. I smile everytime I use it because I left that sticker on there and I feel so good reminding myself all the money I saved.

Also have a shark and I love it, my house definitely puts that vacuum through its paces. Also the long cord is amazing, it's great being able to vacuum 70% of the house without ever having to move the plug.

We are central vac fans here too. We just bought a new house and it is the first time in my adult life where I do not have a central vac. I am missing it. By the end of summer I will have DH install one here for me. They are the best!

We went through this before Christmas, and we kept bouncing all around and couldn't decide what to buy. We narrowed it down to a Shark over a Dyson due to cost (had a bissell from Walmart that lasted 2 years and before that an Oreck that lasted 3.....just can't keep up with pet hair) ended up buying a Shark Rotator Pro Complete Lift away NV650 from Kohls during a sale, with a coupon, and with our black Friday Kohls cash. I love it. We have four cats and one dog, and it is amazing. I love that it comes apart and can be a push, canister, or carry vacuum. It is light enough my 10 and 9 year olds can hold onto it with one hand, and vacuum stairs with the other. It also came with a smaller rotating brush that is amazing at pulling up cat hair off the stair carpet.

Dyson fan here. I have owned many other brands including Hoover and Oreck and nothing compares. I just recently purchased my multi floor or dc65. The suction is so powerful. We have 2 messy kids and 2 cats. I can't believe what it's sucking up! I got my Dyson for under $200 new. Kohls recently had it on sale for $210 after 30 percent off coupon PLUS $40 in kohls cash plus $10 in yes2rewards. Shipping was free. Best investment I ever made. It was $160 after all the discounts.

Just bought a Dyson Animal about 2 months ago after my Oreck quit sucking (literally). I've heard this complaint from others about Oreck. It doesn't just die, it just slowly quits picking up stuff. I had the Oreck for 11 years but it really hasn't worked well for a couple of years. I used my Dyson on carpet that was vacuumed regularly and it pulled a lot of dirt out. It's worth the $390 I spent on it from Amazon. My neighbor has a golden retriever and also has a Dyson Animal and loves how it picks up the dog hair without clogging. My sister and mother have Dyson's also and they love them.

I'd throw another $100 at it and buy the Dyson Multi Floor ball. Got one at Home Depot to replace an old Dyson.

We have 3 dogs and this thing sucks, but in a good way!

Have to say I completely agree!! I had no idea a vacuum could be so awesome!!! :flower:

I'm on my second oreck, and I have it serviced about once a year (tbh, I'm hard on vacuums, and vacuum things I shouldn't...). However, I got a roomba, and it's the best purchase I ever made! My floors are now always clean, and since I run it twice a day (once upstairs, once downstairs), my house is so less dusty! Dirt, pollen, dog hair... I can actually go a week in between dusting.
