Vaccine for kids to be approved Friday!

Unfortunately, the interval in between doses in Ontario will be 8 weeks, which is in line with NACI's recommendation, but not the shorter interval of 3-weeks approved by Health Canada and the manufacturer. Really happy to have access to the vaccine - but the inability to receive the 2nd dose prior to Christmas is annoying...

I booked my 10 year old for Thursday in SW Ontario for her first shot. Check your local health unit's booking website. You cannot get a flu shot or COVID vaccine within 14 days of each other.

Can I ask where you were able to book? Is this trough your local public health or a pharmacy?

In Ontario, some Public Health Units that are not using the provincial booking systems have opened up bookings already. I am in Ottawa... so for us we do have to wait until tomorrow morning. As for pharmacies, Wal-Mart and Costco have set up online waitlists. Some physicians have taken bookings, but my understanding is that very few of them have received confirmation of when doses would be sent to them.

There is a small initial supply of doses that came into Canada yesterday and the rest of the shipment is coming in later this week. Supply is not going to be the issue - the reason why it may take 3-4 weeks to complete is the ability to administer all of these doses

Thanks for that info. Our regions public health doesn’t open until tomorrow. I did join a wait list for Costco though.

In Quebec the PM should announce the vaccination schedule tomorrow around 5pm. I'm so excited, I can't wait to book for my kids! :yay:

Disney here we come!

I was so happy, then I realized my youngest is not 5 yo.. so she won't be able to receive the shot. We will probably have to cancel our spring break trip since we can't afford to keep her at home for the quarantine :'(

In Ontario they are doing it by year of birth so if they turn 5 by December 31 you can get them vaccinated now. If they turn 5 next year you should be able to get them vaccinated in January
