Vaccine/booster days before cruise?

That’s the other thing I’m worried about. The only appt available is 6 days before cruise. Is that enough time for any symptoms to be gone?

Yes, absolutely!
I just got my pfizer booster wednesday at about 2pm, I felt crappy starting sometime around 12 hours after, woke up with a fever and cold sweats. Felt muscle aches and pain throughout the day Thursday (thanksgiving) and now I fully feel better and energized. Symptoms after the booster shouldn't last more than 24 hours.

Did you have those same reactions when you got the first 2 shots? I also got the Pfizer vax and didn't have any side effects either times. I want to get my booster next week, I'm hoping I won't have any reactions to it since I was fine with the first 2. My dh got the Moderna and he felt like he had the flu after his second one. I'll be dragging him to get his booster. Glad you feel better now.

I had the same reaction to the Pfizer booster as I had from the second shot. I had no reaction from the first shot, but minor fatigue and arm soreness set in about 24 hours after second shot and again after my booster, gone by the following morning after a good night’s sleep.

Has anyone gotten their vaccine or booster right before the cruise (like a week before or less)? I know it’s probably silly, but wondering if there is any chance of it affecting the rapid test at the port and giving a false positive!
I would be less worried about testing positive and more worries about feeling like garbage on your cruise with headaches, chills, and possible fever as a side effect of the booster.

I had very strong immune reactions to all 3 doses, basically I felt like I had covid all over again, just minus the respiratory part. I had to take time off from work because I felt so miserable. It lasted about 3 days each time. (And was still way better than the weeks of covid.) I had pfizer, and my 1st dose was 2 months after covid, if that makes a difference.

I didn't have a reaction after the first one (besides the injection site/my arm being sore) but I did after the second one. I actually had a higher fever and nausea with the second shot, but more muscle soreness/fatigue with a much milder fever for the booster. The symptoms from the booster lasted longer though, a full 24 hours. Maybe it's because I got it at the same time as the flu shot? Either way, I think it will be worth it. If you didn't have a reaction to the second dose then you might not for this one either.

That's my guess. My doctor does not recommend getting ANY multiple vaccines on the same day - even though I've never had a reaction to any other than a sore arm. She wouldn't even sign off on Tetanus in one arm and Shingles in the other. She said Shingles could wait until April.

Just based on what I hear about Most people that have a “bad” reaction meaning feeling like crap fever chills etc. this usually last two days. When I got my son his second shot in summer before his trip his doctors office actually said to give him two days puffer just in case he has a reaction. I’m pretty sure there’s people out there that have been sick for a week but that’s very very very rare. In my opinion I’d rather be boosted be on a cruise.

Both my husband and I had our booster (all 3 Pfizer) and we did better after the booster compared to the 2nd. Sore arm and a bit tired for a day after the booster—I felt awful for a day after my 2nd. He had his flu vaccine at the same time.

so glad I found this thread. I was able to get my booster appt. 5 days before we sail next week. So my mom and I are all set. I was worried about the testing at port..
