Vacations! If money wasn't an issue!

Oh my, how do I begin to choose!!!

I might start with a beach vacation for just DH and I, here:

I'd like to spend a few weeks in South Africa. A few days in Cape Town at a really high end hotel, a few days in their wine country, a few more days in their beach area, and four nights in a lodge on a private game reserve.

But I not only don't have enough money, I don't have enough time.

New Zealand and Australia first, then a side trip to Fiji and then to Tahiti. After coming home to wash clothes I would head over to a grand tour of Europe via a transatlantic crossing on the Queen Mary 2, and then on to Tanzania and Kenya. Moving on to an Antartic cruise (Hi Penguins! ) and adding on Patagonia, Peru (Machu Pichu) and a Galapagos cruise. Yeah, that should do it for this year!

We would charter a Yacht for at least 6 months to cruise around the world.

I'm thinking 2 - 3 weeks each

I've money and time were no object I'd choose one of two vacations.

A grand tour of 2 weeks or more in England/Ireland/Scotland.

A cruise and land tour of the South Pacific.

A week in Hawaii, followed by a week in Australia, followed by a week in New Zealand, followed by retirement in Fiji.

Hmmm...other than Disney...well if it WAS Disney, I'd do my dream 3 week vacation. Oddly enough, I'd stay at one of the cabins at Ft. Wilderness and not one of the deluxes. Somehow, the camp grounds have always seemed the most "Disney-like" to me. 3 weeks will FINNALY give me a chance to do the parks non-comando style AND fully take advantage of all the non-park related recreation. That's the problem with WDW, there is just TOO much to do!

But...back to the original question. What non-Disney trip? Hmmmm....

Well, I've always wanted to live it up in Las Vegas, really see some of the shows as well as be able to really get into the gambleing. I'd probably stay 5 nights at the Bellagio (fountain room, please!) and have an elegant dinner, do a later show, then gamble until dawn, have a nice breakfast, then go to bed until it's time for dinner!

Or, I'd take a 2 week cruise and stay in one of the most expensive cabins. I think I'd sail in the Caribbean.

Or, I'd do an African Safari, I've ALWAYS wanted to do one of those. They sound so cool!

I'd have a really hard time picking. But then, if money was not an issue, I'd be able to do all of these trips, now wouldn't I?

It's interesting to see how many people mention Fiji. We spent two weeks there for our 25th anniversary a couple years ago, and no one we talked to knew anything about the place, and most people didn't even know where it was. We got questions like "is that in the US?"

I guess DISers are more sophisticated than the crowd we run with.

As non-exotic as it is, I think I’d really like to tour some places in the US I’ve never been (and return to some favorites as well). Since money is no object, I would like to stay in luxurious suites in each city as well.

not in any particular order...
Fly 1st class to England
Take two months and travel around the UK
Take the chunnel to France
stay in Champagne for a month
visit Paris
Visit the Loire valley and spend a lot of times in the chateau
spend some time on the southern coast of france
take the orient express (1st class all the way)
Spend some non-family-visiting time in Greece
Basically just spend a VERY long time visiting Europe.

Money is no object????

I'd hire someone to come pack for my family & clean the house so it would be clean when we returned.Then,

I'd rent a huge yacht with a full service staff to wait on me hand & foot. I would have hired a tour person that knows where all the "secret" islands are in the world that have crystal clear water & luxurious accomodations. We'd spend a week lounging around, swimming, snorkeling, eating & drinking everything then on to our new desination. We'd return 3 months later & I'd have to turn the boat back in because I don't have anywhere to keep it...

Wow, there are so many cities I would like to visit. I would have to take a world tour so it would take me several months. I hope my DH can take off work that long. Ha. Some of the cities on my list are

Rome
Florence
Athens
Cairo
London
Tokyo
Sydney
Geneva
Venice

After all that touring I would then need to relax on some tropical all-inclusive resort. I am not sure where just somewhere beautiful.
