Vacations and diet plans?

When you go on vacation are you following your plan just as strictly as before, or do you give yourself a little break? Just curious what everyone does.

I know that on our next vacation, we will be doing a lot of exercising, so I shouldn't have too much of a problem staying "on". Can't wait!!

I always plan to stay on plan but know I will stray once or twice as I did in July and will probably do next week.

Dieting and exercise is still pretty new to me and my vacation this past June was the first time I've been on a eating and exercise program while on vacation and I was able to stay on plan and exercise at the health club most days. It wasn't a problem at all probably because I was six months into my program and it was just natural to keep on track.

I hope to do the same when we go to Hilton Head in November.

When we went away last summer and on our Nov cruise I had days of watching what I was eating but still enjoying myself.
Now that Im at goal I find it harder not to go further "off plan" when on vaca. I know I do need to watch it a little more next time we go away (Aug 19-23). Want to feel great when we go to Disney/FL Oct 2-10.

I got back Sunday from a 9 day vacation. This is what I did......I achieved a personal goal of losing 50 lbs before I left (actually lost 51), and I gave myself 5 lbs to GAIN, yes Gain, while I was away. Well, at least I said I'd be happy with only a 5 lb gain. ;) I did journal everything I ate/drank while I was gone, but I did NOT count points...couldn't have anyway, with no 'puter access, and didn't want to know the REAL numbers. :earseek: I only managed to hit the resort exercise room twice. :o I did eat a lot of chicken and shrimp, but also indulged in a Prime Rib one night (YIKES, the points for that!) :earseek:, as well as eating from a buffet all mornings, and twice for dinner (bad idea). We ate two meals a day, and I brought 2 pt snacks to eat between meals, as well as my fat free salad dressing (hey, it helps to cut some points, right?);) I know for a fact that I went over my points each and every day. Did I gain 5 lbs? No, unbelievably. I lost 1.5 lbs. Do I think this loss is true? No. I expect the loss to be negated, and possibly a gain to show up this coming week, as I think it takes the body more than 24 hours to show any results, good or bad.

End result, I'm very happy with the food choices I made, and sometimes indulged in, and happy with the (probable temporary) loss, and I'm back on program since yesterday. ::yes::

Another WW told me what her leader said one meeting: There are 3 approaches to vacation.........1. You stay strictly on diet; 2. You TRY to stay on plan, with a slip every now and then; or, 3. You totally blow your plan. I was a mix between 2 and 3. :p

(Sorry, long post):o

I follow my plan. I never eat flour or sugar but I probably eat too many olives and/or almonds. :)
