Cast: Me -aunt of princesses and obsessive planner; MomMom of princesses ("MM")- recently diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis and using a wheelchair for the first time; Sherri ("S") -- mother of princesses, MM's daughter and my sister; Mick ("M") - father of princesses; Princess Marie -- almost 8, 3rd trip to DW; Princesses Christa and Noelle - 3.5 year old twins, 2nd trip to DW
Resort -- Grand Floridian for 6 nights; Rennaissance Orlando for 2 nights
Day 6
Today is another extra magic hour day. We accomplished so much during our first day in MK that we are pretty flexible today except that we have a PS for CRT around 10. Things start off bad. MM's eye is still bothering her and so is her rheumatoid arthritis. I jumped out of bed late and hop in for a quick shower. I'm out shortly and see that MM is awake. I say "let's go", it's extra magic hour. She says she doesn't have time to get ready so she can't go. I say we'll wait for her but she should get moving or she can meet us at CRT. She announces she's not going and it is clear I said something wrong. S is upset because today we were supposed to wear our matching shirts and get our picture taken in front of the castle. MM won't budge. I wonder whether we will have to forfeit the deposit.
We are off to MK without MM. We run into Daisy who Marie has always wanted to see and we get pictures and autographs. We are then off to Buzz, Teacups and then M goes to SM to get FPs and the rest of us shop.
The breakfast is wonderful except Christa is now a little under the whether and falls asleep. Noelle sees Belle and it makes up for the debacle at the Princess Bfast. Towards the end of the meal, Christa wakes up and is able to see Cinderella. Wow, even when they are sick these kids cooperate!
After the bfast, we have just enough time to see Belle's story before going to Splash. During lunch, Marie told Belle that we wer going to hear her story after bfast and Belle says maybe Marie can help her read it, which I think is really nice until we get there and it is a different Belle! I explain to Marie to be ready to volunteer. She is fixated on Belle, but Belle only selects the boys. Her two helpers come off the stage and start approaching kids for the other parts. (I wish I had known that hint.) S and I are both telling Marie where to go but she is so fixated on Belle that she isn't listening to us. I literally turn her to see the woman asking for volunteers right in front of her and she finally snaps out of her daze and goes on stage - she's Mrs. Potts and she has a great time. I feel a great sense of accomplishment.
Next onto Splash. We get soaked and so we decide to go back to the hotel. When we get back MM looks a little better but is in is lot of pain still -- her legs are cramping and she can't stop it. Is it because she's been in the chair too much?
We decide to go to MGM for dinner. We really haven't had an "adult" meal the whole time so we decide to go to Mama Melrose. S is still obsessed with getting a picture so we all dress in our matching Tshirts and head off. We get there just as the parade is concluding and so we are stuck. Afterwards there are too many people in the street and we can't find the photographer so we decide to get dinner first. It is a 40 minute wait so S decides we'll leave and get our picture taken. Rather than take a minute and think about where we should go, S takes off in a near sprint. She's so far ahead, I can't keep up while pushing MM. We literally do a tour of the park. We end up at somewhere that the Mickey character is. We usually don't do our family picture with a character just a background but at this point, we'll take it. Of course, our beeper goes off while we are in line. We get the pic and then go back to MamaMelrose and I let S explain why we weren't there sooner. They aren't happy but we get seated in 5-10 minutes. The food is good. Marie isn't eating much and that's not a good sign.
We decide try and hit Rockin Roller Coaster but the line is too long. Even though S and I tried to talk Marie out of doing it earlier in the trip her description makes us want to do it. We do some final shopping in MGM and then me and MM cab it to Downtown Disney and the others go back to the GF.
MM and I do some shopping; decide we're too tired for PI and go home. 6 nights and we never did PI -- we feel lame.
Next -- Day 7: Wonderland Tea Party
