Help a Newbie with timeshares -- Where can I go for a tutorial?

DH got a VVP timeshare. Now second guessing. We have 10 days to get out of the deal.

I know I read that many are leaving RCI due to fees -- Why? Where are they going?

VVP on points -- Can a trade be made into a non-points resort?

We'd get "2 Free Vacation Weeks" -- Is this similiar to the SkyAuction certificates?

And finally -- Any VVP owners put there? If so what has been the annual increase in maintaince fees?

Go to www.tugbbs.com right away. They will tell you to rescind right away. Timeshares can be purchased for a fraction (like hundreds of dollars) on the resale market.

you can find VV for $500 or less on the resell market.

the non-DVC timeshares in Orlando - don't resell for very much at all - exceptions - Marriott and HGVC.

but even saw a Marriott last week for under $1,000. Also brought it - but definitely need to get rid of Westgate first!

Andrea, I have pm'd you my experiences with VV@Pkwy. If you are still in the 10 day period, I know that I personally would rescind. The resort is great and has many, many plusses, but financially, its not a great investment. I would not do it again. You can stay on cash and spend less and you have no mortgage or MF's to worry abouit that way. You can also buy a deeded interest at VV@ Pkwy right on Ebay for just a few hundred dollars. Doesn't make sense to purchase firect as they will tell you the place is worth thousands. If you go to resell, your in for a rude shock. Right now only DVC and certain Marriott properties will buy back their units at fair going rate-VV will laugh at the thought.
