We passed ROFR and got our membership. We are planning a family vacation next holiday season. At the 11 month mark is there a better ady of the week to start a vacation in order to get 7 nights in a row? For example Start Monday November 30th or December 1st a Tuesday?

As long as you book at the 11 month window and aren't trying for something like concierge or a BWV GV or standard view, you should be fine to start your trip either day. Only people who own at your home resort and are planning to book the same dates as you will be in competition with you for those points. As long as you plan 11 months to the day, you should never have problems booking except in those instances noted above.

I don't know that anyone really knows for sure, becuase this will be the first holiday season that the 11 month from check in day AND you can book 5 days ahead. If people aren't walking the reservation, then it should work if you begin on a Sunday book until Friday morning, and then add the weekend.

I think if you begin on a Saturday and book until Thursday...what happens if more people booked the Sunday to Friday, you could be stuck.

If someone knows a better way, I'm ready to read about it too! I hope this reservation system really does work to members' benefit. I have my doubts, and have expressed my concerns to MS, but they think it's going to work. I really really hope so.

So you're saying if I want to book a 7 nite vacation. I can only book the first 5 nites at the 11 month mark and then have to wait 5 more days and book the last 2 nites?:confused3

I misunderstood. Chuck S on another thread says that you can book 7 nights that first call.

You are looking to book at one of the busiest times for DVC and no one is quite sure how the new 7+ booking will work. Historically, it appears that fewer DVC members plan to arrive on Friday or Saturday, so those might be better days to start your vacation. However, when those dates fall just after Thanksgiving, all bets may be off.

If you can be flexible, I would suggest trying to book for the earliest possible consecutive 7 nights that will work for you. If you cannot book for those nights, then call back the next day and try for the next 7 nigths until you are successful.

Best of luck -- Suzanne

If you call 11 months from date of arrival and book 7 nights I don't think you will have any problem getting what you want even at that time of year regardless of which day you start except possibly for a Grand Villa or AKV concierge; even then you should have a chance. Nevertheless, if you are going to consider the issue, you should assume that the highest number of check-ins for DVC occur on Sundays and that many will book starting with Nov 29 for Nov 29 to Dec 4 (Sun to Fri trip that avoids any weekend point cost nights)
