I'm freaking out! We've been planning our trip for months. I haven't been to Disney World in 10 years. It will also be my 3 yr old son's first time which i am so excited about (and so is he!)

We're in the Northeast, so i'm not really familiar with how the weather usually behaves down South. We are leaving in 10 days. I just checked Orlando's 10-day forcast and it's calling for thunder storms EVERY DAY FOR 10 DAYS. :mad:There's no information yet for the following week when we will be there.

Does anyone think this storm could last for 2 weeks straight, or is there a good chance it will blow over after 10 days straight of expected rain?

I don't think rain would ruin our vacation per se, but I really wasn't expecting to walk around damp everday. has anyone else had a Disney trip that was rainy the whole time? Did it put a "damper" on your time?

It will not rain or thunderstorm all day unless there's a tropical system overhead. It also wont' rain everyday. Typically, it rains for an hour or so in the afternoon or overnight, but I can pretty much tell you it won't rain all day and it won't rain over WDW everyday.

We are going a week from today and go the same week every year! We love going around the time as the weather is great! It does usually rain for a little while (an hour or less) every day but it cools things off. FL weather is so unpredictable, don't bother checking the reports! You'll have a blast!!! :goodvibes

My family is headed to WDW next Sunday and I was having panic attacks about the weather too...I opened this thread and found a neighbor! We're from the Middletown area too! :goodvibes

(I'll try not to sing "It's a Small World After All".)

Weather is so unpredictable...and it seems Florida forecaster alway forecast rain....our trip was forecasted for thunderstorms all week.....we saw nothing..never a drop....high 80's to high 90's.........some clouds but they rolled away....I'd never fret over the weather forecast..........

Like others have said yes it rains here usualy around 3pm . Lightning has been bad lately so be careful of that 2 storms in the tropics so keep an eye on that in case you wish to re schedule your trip. The rain isnt a big deal we just toss on a poncho and keep going. It clears out the parks too and thats always a plus! I would go and have a blast and not worry about a little rain. you can always duck inside somewhere for a while till it passes ;)

Embrace the rain..while everyone else is going to the movies or doing stuff like going to the outlets..you will have full access to the parks.

We went in January years ago and had 10 days of fairly constant rain and had a very magical vacation. In some strange way we found the rain put people in a good mood as everyone we met laughed and joked about the weather.

Make sure you have some wet weather gear and have fun.

You'll probably have great weather so try not to worry about something that you can't control:hug:

Keeping my aussie fingers crossed that you get sunny warm days.

We also live in the northeast and travel to WDW often. I used to panic about the forecast, but it always seems to call for rain everyday. Most of te time it never rains, or it rains for a brief time. Bring some ponchos just to be safe, but don't panic.

It might drizzle for an hour or so every afternoon. That drizzle might even happen over WDW every day while you're there. (Not likely, but possible.) Bring a poncho and some crocs and keep going. The only time you'll be in a monsoon is when there's a tropical storm right on top of WDW.

We went the first week in October in 2010, and it never rained once. I didn't know that I should bring ponchos for our first trip, and lucked out! In May we used the ponchos once, and it was a crazy hard storm in the evening that lasted about an hour and then dried up. Good luck!

On our way home now...we usually go this time of year, and this year was probably the most rain we've ever had. Almost every afternoon we got at least a little rain. And I forgot to pack our ponchos. And it was still totally fine! We got caught in a few showers, but then they were over quickly and we dried.

Hi
A few years ago, we were there during tropical storm Faye. It rained everday with 50 mile an hour winds. But we still had a great time!! We were the only ones on Pirates of the Caribbean!! MK was almost empty, so we had the whole park to ourselves. Just a few other brave people. So just bring some ponchos, or they sell ponchos behind the store counters and have fun!! Also, you won't know what the weather forecast is until right before you go. It changes everyday in Florida.

We went twelve years ago for our honeymoon and it rained everyday except one. However, we've been there every year since and it's been wonderful. If it does rain, you have to put your rain jackets on and keep going. Don't let the rain stop you . . . you're on vacation and there to have a good time. You can always go into a building and see a show if it starts raining. Also, it only rains for a short time and then stops.

Have a good time.

We keep ponchos neatly folded in the bottom of our Disney park backpack...having ponchos means it likely won't rain, having no ponchos means it likely will rain. :rotfl:

My motto: A rainy day at Disney is better than a sunny day in my office! Embrace the rain if it comes, it can be fun! I don't necessarily recommend this, but we've been known to walk around the World Showcase barefoot (the water was well over ankle deep around Mexico), keeping tennis shoes dry in our bags while we enjoyed exploring the world during the torrential downpour when no one else was brave enough. It's a great memory for DH and I...he still says, I can't believe you got me to walk around Epcot with bare feet!

South Florida weather is unpredictable, but generally is ideal for a day at Disney! Don't worry too much about it, you'll have a great time regardless!

We too were there Sept 10th-18th. Accuweather.com was predicting rain every day. Going to AK that first day, it misted on us just a tiny bit but had stopped by the time we got to AK. The night we went to Fantasmic it very lightly misted for just a few minutes then again stopped. We didn't see another drop of rain until I got on the DME bus Sunday afternoon to go back to the airport. It started raining just as we pulled out under the WDW gate, but stopped just as we got to the airport. In other words, rain did not affect our trip at all.:rotfl:

To OP: this is hurricane season. The weather forecast nearly always calls for rain at least part of the day. But if it does rain, you are looking at maybe a 20 minute shower then the sun comes out. I go to WDW every Sept or Oct during hurricane season and it nearly always calls for rain the week I'm going to be down there. I've only gotten wet maybe a handful of times if that. We usually get more rain during our May trips.:rotfl:

Just got back from a rainy week at Disney - meaning it rained at least four days in the afternoon and much of Thursday evening.

Tips - buy SEVERAL cheap rain ponchos for every member of your party before you go. That way, you don't need to fold them up and reuse them.

Bring extra shoes - so if they don't dry out by the next day - you have dry ones for the next day. Or wear/change into some type of flip-flops or other plastic shoe!

ALSO - TIP we wish we had known - when it rains, people pour into the shows and it's likely you won't get in even if you arrive 5 minutes before show time. We got turned away from two different shows because we didn't arrive early enough - both times arriving before the start of show - but not early enough to get a seat.

And honestly, as a woman, I wish I had brought more bras. That way - I could have just gotten soaked and not had to worry about how long it would take them to dry out.

Another idea is to have the change of clothes in the locker/car each day. We did that a couple days and it gave us real piece of mind knowing that we had dry things to change into if necessary.

Thanks for all the advice. I keep hearing the same thing; it rains a little everyday but then clears up. And I guess attitude is everything. Even if we do get rained on everyday, we can either let it frustrate us, or we can make an adventure out of it.

There is one downside to the rain no matter how you look at it... humidity hair! It's nice to picture yourself looking gorgeous on vacation, but Florida and my hair never seem to get along.

LOL--that's the one thing I LIKE about the humidity--makes my hair wavy!

That time of the year in florida it normally rains at intervals. Sun comes out and it's like it never rained
