just recieved the new addition of vacation magic and the article about scotland is very interesting but the trivia tidbit puzzles me a little...

"whilst most scottish citizens are english speakers. 30 percent are also fluent in scots and about 1 percent speak gaelic" what is scots?

Received our copy of Vacation Magic today as well. As for Scots, this what I found at Wikipedia, "Scots or Lallans (Eng: Lowlands), sometimes called Lowland Scots to distinguish it from the Gaelic language of the Highlands, is a West Germanic language used in Scotland, parts of Northern Ireland, and border areas of the Republic of Ireland, where it is known in official circles as Ulster Scots or Ullans but by speakers simply as Scotch or Scots.

Native speakers refer to the language as Scots, Braid Scots (Eng: Broad Scots), or simply Oor ain leid (Eng: Our own language)."
