We are taking our first Disney vacation package (land and sea).
Trip starts july 30th 2006. Is there any advantage or disadvantage in purchasing the vacation insurance. We did not purchase the insurance yet. It would cost 514 more dollars(6 people).

Thanks

I thought it was just another way for the travel industry to take my money. But my travel agent got me a good price through Travelex ($194 for 4 people) that I went ahead and bought it.

We almost missed the ship due to flight delays, and our bags did not make it. Delta reimbursed us $300 and the travel insurance is going to reimburse us $200 for the clothes and supplies we had to buy until our bags got there three days later.

If we hadn't gotten there on time, the insurance would have paid for us to fly to where we could board and for us to stay somewhere in the mean time.

I think travel insurance is well worth it. Just think of the investment you are making in your vacation. However, I think you can do better on price. Search the boards, I remember not too long ago a thread with a lot of good travel insurance information on it (and a lot of horror stories).

Good luck.

I think it is worth it and if you go to insuremytrip.com you can compare different policies to see what suits you best. It appears that Travelex - Travelite will work best for us. Good luck.
