I've done some minor searching for renting a vacation home near Universal and haven't found anything. Everything seems like it is "near" Disney. Any ideas?

Universal is in the middle of a pretty built up community - so you won't find vacation homes in that area.

My old high school is across the street from Universal just to give you an idea.

Disney on the other hand is way out there by itself.

when i want to stay off site, i google it for hotels.

and if you go to orlandoinfo you can find a lot of hotels.

the tourist burea for orlando is very good and thorough.

google them and from there you will get lots of info.

some of the older trippies mention vacation homes they have used near the uo side of town.

the last time i stayed on site has been awhile.
i used the places over on major av and walked to the park.

i used the extended stay america where you have the bedroom and kitchennette.
are you looking for one of those set ups?

There's 4 different "families" which in total we have 6 adults and 4 children. We usually find it more cost-effective to rent a large house for a week than getting 4 rooms for 6 nights.

Plus, there are various food allergies amongst the group and it is easier (& less expensive) to just buy/bring/make our own food than dealing with restaurants.

TIA to anyone with ideas!

there are a few, about a handful of regular posters that do the rental houses or the time share programs.

i hate to see a poster ignored and only posted what i knew about them.

i don't know how efficient you are in searching with google.
not to offend you, i put a question in and came up with this site from google.

i did check a few out by universal, they look good.

since i do not know your budget, plans, how many bedrooms, etc that you are looking for, i thought i would give you the link where i found many choices.

The area around Universal is not zoned for short term rentals. As others have stated, a lot of the area surrounding Universal is residential so I don't think you'll have too much luck with a rental home.

Thanks Metro West and macraven for the info. I'll check out the links and see if I can find anything.

:thumbsup2

i don't live in florida so i think metro would have a better idea on rental locations near uo.

i just google and posted what i did find.

I think your best bet will be whatever is closest to Disney, to be honest.

We stayed at Windsor Hills (Kissimmee) and it wasn't a bad drive at all. Maybe 15 min.?? No traffic b/c we were there in November and the open hours did not coincide w/rush hour at all (I think it was 10-6?)....so it was easy for us.

I would HIGHLY recommend Windsor Hills. It is a beautiful neighborhood and has a great pool w/slide (in addition to most of the homes are pool homes). Have fun planning!
