Hi all....

Today is my first day here on this board and it looks like there is tons of info here. I am going to look around a bit but in order to take a short cut I was hoping that a few of you could help me with a Vacation....I am looking for recommendations for cheap but nice hotels near the parks. Also is there a better place to buy tickets?? I am looking at a 7 night trip in April with my Hubby. This is our Anniversary trip. It will be our first trip alone without the children in 14 years. I so can't wait. Also has anyone done the backlot tour??? I see it is 200 a person and I was wondering it is worth the extra money?? Thanks for all your help....:dance3:

We stayed at the Days Inn in Kissemmee, near Old Town many years ago and it was very nice and relatively inexpensive. I was just looking for a room for our daughter who may (or may not :sad2: ) be able to join us when we are there in early December. Anyway, prices for early December were just $42 a night. There are MANY ways to keep costs down including bringing in your own snacks and eating just once a day in the parks. Many meals at counter service are big enough to share. Definitely bring in your own water. As for ticket prices, they are just about the same everywhere. You can google Disney tickets and a few on-line places will pop up. We had good luck with one, but it really doesn't save significant money. Don't give up, you'll find ways to make it affordable!

Will you be driving or flying? Actually, since it's your anniversary, maybe staying in a value resort would be a good idea. They are not as inexpensive as an off property, however the benefits of staying on site are awesome..Like the previous poster stated there are ways of saving money, and food is the best way..however, if driving the gas cost could be higher and therefore, what you would pay onsite, compared to driving to the parks everyday, would/could most likely even out. I have no idea as to the backlot tour tickets so I can't give any help with that...Good luck and have a magical anniversary trip:)

Hi ang2disney:

One thing you might want to consider is purchasing the 2009 Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World. It's less than $20.00 and is loaded with information & ratings about Disney Resorts, hotels nearby, vacation home/condos for rent. Plus it's loaded with great information to help you plan your Trip. These boards also have tons of great information.

Have a Great Time planning and enjoy your trip,

Mark

ditto on getting the unofficial guide... it comes in handy, has a lot of information, etc.
There are a lot of nice places on 192 just south of WDW, there is a motel 6 I have stayed in more than once that is newly remodeled, really nice and has free wireless internet.

ticket prices are highly regulated, the largest discount you can find is about 9% of $500 10 day park hoppers with plus and no expiration.

The backstage tour is a lot of walking, and seeing some pretty interesting stuff in three of the four parks and includes lunch. is it worth it? it is original and fun... if you are a long time fan of the parks, etc. it is fun.
