Vacation before or after race?

I signed up for the Jingle Jungle 5K. It will be my first race. Ever.

Do you think it is better to plan vacation time before the race or after? I'm having trouble deciding what days to be there.

For a 5k, you can do either. Just take it easy the day before if you are nervous. Plan on calling it a night early, as you will still need to up around 5am.

I WISH before and after were an option. Our real Disney vacation is 12/30-1/7. The trip for the race will be just me and my 9 year old daughter, so we will have to make it a short trip.

The race is Saturday morning. I'm looking at either flying in the Tues before and leaving Sat evening or flying in early Friday and leaving the Tues following the race. So either way it will be around 4 nights.

I think for a 5k you could really go either way but if its going to be your first time, I'd want to get it over with so I could enjoy my vacation. I vote for doing the run at the beginning of the vacation

I vote for after. I did my first 5K as part of a quick family vacation to WDW, and I was a nervous wreck before the race. Once it was over I was much more relaxed and able to enjoy the parks! And do try to make it an early night Friday night, although you may not be able to sleep really well anyway...
